The frequency of splenic injuries due to coloscopy is largely unknown. Therefore, the aim of this study was to give estimate the risk for hospitalized patients. Using the administrative database from a health insurance company with more than 10 million insured subjects, patients undergoing inpatient colonoscopy associated with a splenic injury within 2 weeks were retrieved from the administrative records based upon OPS (comparable to International Classification of Procedures in Medicine) and ICD-10 codes.

Background: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common mental health disorders among children, and it is rapidly surging among adults as well. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of community neurologists and psychiatrists as well as general practitioners and paediatricians in prescribing ADHD medications in Germany and whether their role has changed over the 10-year period from 2008 and 2018.

Methods: In this secondary analysis of anonymized prescribing data, we calculated the absolute and relative frequencies of ADHD prescriptions by neurologists and psychiatrists, summarized as specialists, and family physicians and paediatricians, summarized as generalists, and how it has changed during the years 2008 to 2018.

Objective: The study analyses the number, characteristics and reasons for a length of stay of patients in German psychiatric clinics in excess of 6 months.

Methods: The study was implemented in the form of a nationwide online survey, which was addressed to chief physicians of psychiatric clinics.

Results: In the sample, 174 patients in 80 psychiatric clinics were identified who could not be discharged because no suitable follow-up services were available in the region.

BackgroundThe amendment to the medical licensing regulations (ÄApprO) was decided at the federal level in the version of the "Master Plan for Medical Studies 2020" passed in 2017. In addition to the organizational effort involved in redesigning the curricular teaching, the expected costs associated with the implementation of the new licensing regulations due to the necessary additional time and, therefore, personnel expenditure are of particular importance. Taking into account the different forms of study and the 20% scope for study-design provided to the individual faculties, the process of transferring the teaching content to the new modules confronts us with an enormous organizational challenge.
