Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents from the leaves of Ilex latifolia.

Methods: The constituents were iso- lated and purified by various chromatographic techniques. Their structures were identified by UV, IR, MS and NMR spectroscopic analy- sis.

Results: Ten compounds were isolated from the leaves of flex latifolia. Their structures were respectively identified as 3β,13β-Di- hydroxy-urs-11-en-28-oic acid-13-lactone (1), β-sitosterol (2) 3-hydroxy-11-oxours-12-ene (3), (20S,24S)-epoxydammarane-3β,25- diol (4), 25-deuteriostigmasterol (5), α-amyrin (6), foliasalacin A4 (7), 23-hydroxyursolic acid (8), p-coumaric acid (9) and β-dau- costerol (10).

Conclusion: Compounds 1,3-5,7 and 9 are isolated from this plant for the first time.

The mini-cutting physiological condition is vital for the rooting process. For accurate interpretation, considering all mini-cutting responses in an experiment is necessary to identify significant rooting-biomarkers. The study investigates rooting-biomarkers during vegetative propagation, focusing on Ilex paraguariensis (yerba mate) clones of contrasting mini-cutting rooting performance as a case study (i.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the genes related to flavonoid synthesis, regulation, and transport in a plant species called Ilex asprella, identifying 28,478 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) across leaf, stem, and root tissues.
  • A detailed analysis reveals specific patterns of gene expression for flavonoid pathways, indicating that different pathways are dominant in different plant tissues: roots are more active in stilbenes and anthocyanins, while leaves focus on flavonols, and stems are associated with isoflavones.
  • The research highlights the presence of key regulatory genes and transporters in these pathways and notes the lack of certain genes necessary for producing specific flavonoids, providing insights valuable for medicinal
