Female Wistar rats with different thyroid status (eu-, hypothyroid) were exposed to 0, 3 or 30Â mg/kg body weight of the flame retardant HBCD for 7 days. Changes in protein patterns obtained by 2D-DIGE were evaluated, and different animal groups compared taking into account their exposure and thyroid status. Proteins significantly altered in abundance in any of these comparisons were identified by mass spectrometry. These data, together with hormone data of the animals, are discussed in "Hexa-bromocyclododecane (HBCD) induced changes in the liver proteome of eu- and hypothyroid female rats" (Miller et al., 2016) [1].

Backgruound: We evaluated the influence of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) on insulin resistance (IR), cardiometabolic risk, and obesity in childbearing-age women without diabetes.
Methods: This cross-sectional investigation included 282 women, aged 18 to 35 years, from rural and suburban Sri Lanka. Anthropometric and biochemical parameters, including IR and lipid/thyroid profiles, were recorded.

Autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) is due to an autoimmune process that destroys thyrocytes, leading to hormonal disorders. AIT is more common in women, and the aetiology is multifactorial. The destruction of thyroid cells may release free thyroid hormones into the bloodstream, causing hyperthyroid symptoms.

Thyroid hormone dysfunction is frequently observed in patients with chronic illnesses including heart failure, which increases the risk of adverse events. This study examined the effects of thyroid hormones (THs) on cardiac transverse-tubule (TT) integrity, Ca sparks, and nanoscale organization of ion channels in excitation-contraction (EC) coupling, including L-type calcium channel (Ca1.2), ryanodine receptor type 2 (RyR2), and junctophilin-2 (Jph2).

Myxedema is a potentially life-threatening condition typically observed in severe hypothyroidism. However, localized or diffuse myxedema is also observed in hyperthyroidism. The exact cause and mechanism of this paradoxical situation is not clear.

Purpose: Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is one of the most common causes of thyroid dysfunction in iodine sufficient worldwide areas, but its molecular mechanisms are not completely understood. To this regard, this study aimed to assess serum levels of miRNA-29a (miR-29a) and transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) in HT patients with different patterns of thyroid function.
Methods: A total of 29 HT patients, with a median age of 52 years (21-68) were included.
