Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a chronic pain condition characterized by pain, fatigue, and nonrestorative sleep. The disruptive symptoms of FMS are associated with reductions in quality of life related to family, intimate relationships, and work. The present study was part of a randomized pilot study of an 8-week Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention compared to education in a sample of 28 women with FMS. The Chronic Pain Values Inventory was administered at baseline, postintervention, and 12 week follow-up. Both groups showed significant improvements in family success, which were maintained at follow-up. Groups showed a differential pattern of success in work. The ACT group demonstrated significant, maintained improvements in success in intimate relationships, while the education group reported no changes over time. Findings suggest that both interventions may lead to improvements in valued living; however different interventions may be best suited for certain valued domains. The results of this study indicate that FMS patients are able to improve their success in family and intimate relationships and losses in these areas are not necessarily permanent.

This study sought to understand how young adults (age 18-25) with histories of mental health disorders are coping with disrupted transitions to adulthood during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional web survey was conducted in March-June 2021 of 967 US young adults with pre-pandemic psychiatric disability to assess their current psychiatric status, interrupted transitions, and associations with social determinants including income, community participation, and social context. Mental health was assessed with the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), and PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version.

Intimate relationships frequently come to an end, and in the current research, we have endeavored to examine how individuals would potentially react in the scenario where their intimate partner decides to terminate a relationship they wish to continue. More specifically, employing open-ended questionnaires on a sample of 219 Greek-speaking participants, we identified 79 possible reactions. Subsequently, using close-ended questionnaires on a sample of 442 Greek-speaking participants, we categorized these reactions into 13 broad factors.

Understanding the developmental trajectories of the auditory and visual systems is crucial to elucidate cognitive maturation and its associated relationships, which are essential for effectively navigating dynamic environments. Our one recent study has shown a positive correlation between the event-related potential (ERP) amplitudes associated with visual selective attention (posterior contralateral N2) and auditory change detection (mismatch negativity) in adults, suggesting an intimate relationship and potential shared mechanism between visual selective attention and auditory change detection. However, the evolution of these processes and their relationship over time remains unclear.

Intimately coupled photocatalytic biodegradation (ICPB) has been recently developed as an efficient wastewater treatment technique, particularly for removing persistent organic pollutants. However, photocatalyst/biofilm interaction in terms of photoelectron transfer and its effect on the overall performance of ICPB has not been explored. To investigate these points, interface-engineered composites of bismuth vanadate and reduced graphene oxide with low degree (BiVO/rGO-LC) and high degree of their contact (BiVO/rGO-HC) were fabricated and applied for ICPB.

The fabrication of dual-quantum dot heterostructures offers a promising strategy to enhance the environmental remediation performance of photocatalysts. Herein, a BiWO-based Z-scheme heterojunction was constructed by incorporating carbonized polymer dots (CPDs) and CdS quantum dots (QDs) via a microwave-assisted solvothermal method. The 1 wt% CPDs/CdS QDs/BiWO (CCBW-1) composite achieved optimal Cr(VI) removal, reaching 97.
