Article Synopsis
  • Sarcomas are rare and complex cancers originating in soft tissues or bones, making their treatment difficult due to a challenging tumor microenvironment (TME) that limits drug delivery.
  • A study tested the drug ketotifen in combination with advanced chemotherapy and immunotherapy techniques in mouse models, which showed that ketotifen improved the TME by reducing tumor stiffness and increasing blood flow, leading to better treatment outcomes.
  • This treatment combination also enhanced immune response by increasing the presence of effective T-cells and altering macrophage activity, suggesting a promising approach for improving therapeutic efficacy in sarcoma patients.

Purpose/aim Of The Study: There is still no evidence of which drug has the greatest therapeutic potential for post-traumatic arthrofibrosis. The aim of this study is to systematically review the literature for quality evidence and perform a meta-analysis about the pharmacological therapies of post-traumatic arthrofibrosis in preclinical models.

Materials And Methods: A comprehensive and systematic search strategy was performed in three databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE and Web of Science) retrieving studies on the effectiveness of pharmacological therapies in the management of post-traumatic arthrofibrosis using preclinical models in terms of biomechanical outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • This network meta-analysis aimed to evaluate and rank the effectiveness and safety of various systemic drugs for treating uremic pruritus (UP) in patients on hemodialysis.
  • It involved a review of 22 randomized controlled trials (RCTs), analyzing drugs such as gabapentin, cromolyn sodium, and hydroxyzine for their impact on pruritus relief and adverse effects.
  • The findings suggest that gabapentin is the most effective treatment for UP, while cromolyn sodium presents lower risks of adverse events, indicating it may be a safer option for some patients.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how a treatment called electroacupuncture (EA) can help rats with a diarrhea-related tummy problem known as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D).
  • The researchers tested this treatment by checking how many loose stools the rats had and how sensitive their tummies were when poked.
  • The results showed that EA helped the rats by making their loose stools less frequent and reducing inflammation in their intestines, which means it might help protect their tummy lining.
