Different mechanisms of virulence changes at the molecular and populational levels are discussed. The methodology and mechanisms of Streptococcus pyogenes variability are analysed. The views of the adaptive role played by insertion sequences are developed, and the design of an epidemiologico-genetic experiment is proposed, which consists in obtaining highly virulent insertion mutants and testing their properties.

Soil salinization becomes serious under climate change and human activities. Although the residue decomposition contributes lots to soil carbon storage and fertility, the decomposition process and microbial mechanisms on saline-alkali soils are still vague facing climate change. We measured the mass loss of residue (0, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60 and 90 days), CO emission (every two days), and the microbial community structure (0, 4, 15 and 90 days) by using the litter bag method, gas chromatography and high-throughput sequencing technology during the residue decomposition (90 days) in a saline-alkali soil from the Tarim River Basin, China under various temperatures (15 °C, 25 °C, 35 °C) and soil moisture levels (20%, 40%, 60% water holding capacity).

Malaria is a major public healthcare concern worldwide, representing a leading cause of death in specific regions. The gold standard for diagnosis is microscopic analysis, but this requires a laboratory setting, trained staff, and infrastructure and is therefore typically slow and dependent on the experience of the technician. This study introduces, for the first time, a biomimetic sensing platform for the direct detection of the disease.

Recent photolysis experiments with formic acid suggest that the roaming mechanism is a significant CO-forming pathway at a photolysis energy of 230 nm. While previous computational studies have identified multiple dissociation pathways for CO-forming channels, the dynamic features of these pathways remain poorly understood. This study investigates the dissociation dynamics of the CO + HO and CO + H channels in the ground state (S) of formic acid using direct dynamics simulation and the generalized multi-center impulsive model (GMCIM) at 230 nm.

We report a case of long RP' tachycardia diagnosed as fast-slow atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) with a bystander nodoventricular pathway (NVP). Differential responses to right ventricular extrastimuli from the base and apex highlighted the anatomical proximity of the NVP attachment, contributing to the diagnosis.

Quantum ghost imaging (QGI) leverages correlations between entangled photon pairs to reconstruct an image using light that has never physically interacted with an object. Despite extensive research interest, this technique has long been hindered by slow acquisition speeds, due to the use of raster-scanned detectors or the slow response of intensified cameras. Here, we utilize a single-photon-sensitive time-stamping camera to perform QGI at ultra-low-light levels with rapid data acquisition and processing times, achieving high-resolution and high-contrast images in under 1 min.
