A novel europium(iii) complex simultaneously exhibiting photocolorimetric and photofluorometric behavior was obtained. Multiple distinguishable identities can be obtained and reversibly modulated using light as external stimuli. With this novel photo-responsive complex, double encryption and advanced anti-counterfeiting were realized.

In this study, novel anion photo-responsive supramolecular hydrogels based on cysteine-silver sol (CSS) and iodate anions (IO) were prepared. The peculiarities of the self-assembly process of gel formation in the dark and under visible-light exposure were studied using a complex of modern physico-chemical methods of analysis, including viscosimetry, UV spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, electrophoretic light scattering, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. In the dark phase, the formation of weak snot-like gels takes place in a quite narrow IO ion concentration range.

Residual antibiotics in the environment may pose threats to both ecological system and public health, necessitating the development of efficient analytical strategy for monitoring and control. This study proposes a photoelectrochemical extended-gate field-effect transistor (PEGFET) sensor for specific and sensitive detection of kanamycin. The sensor utilizes ITO glass as the extended gate electrode (photoelectrode) and titanium dioxide as the photosensitive material.

Paper-based packaging can offer a sustainable replacement for plastics. However, paper provides a poor barrier to water, oxygen and moisture. This study presents a novel renewable lignocellulosic composite made from a hydrophobic photo-reversible coating deposited onto a cellulose nanofiber film that has improved barrier properties and can be reprocessed.

Hypothesis: Pickering emulsions that respond to changes in pH by the addition of acid or alkali have been extensively studied, but the development of photo-responsive Pickering emulsions has been more challenging. This study attempts to demonstrate a novel approach to achieve photo-responsiveness in Pickering emulsions by incorporating a photoacid generator (PAG) into the oil phase. Upon UV irradiation, the PAG is expected to release protons (H), which can then regulate the pH of the emulsion system and control its stability.

Li-O batteries (LOBs) have garnered significant attention in recent years due to high theoretical specific capacity, however, the sluggish charge-discharge reaction kinetics and rapid failure under high current densities have hindered their further application. This work presents a photo-responsive catalyst (UIO-66-NH) supported on carbon cloth, which could enhance the reaction kinetics of LOBs and improve the discharge capacity under high current densities. It demonstrates that under light, the overpotential decreases by 0.
