Background: Randomized clinical trials have shown that semaglutide is associated with a clinically relevant reduction in body weight and a lower risk of adverse cardiovascular events in those who are overweight or obese with a history of cardiovascular disease but no diabetes. The objective of this study was to assess the cost-effectiveness of semaglutide for this indication.
Methods: A decision analytic Markov model was used to compare the lifetime benefits and costs of semaglutide 2.

Dietary sulfur amino acid restriction (SAAR) elicits various health benefits, some mediated by fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21). However, research on SAAR's effects on the heart is limited and presents mixed findings. This study aimed to evaluate SAAR-induced molecular alterations associated with cardiac remodeling and their dependence on FGF21.

Acrylamide is a food contaminant formed during high-temperature cooking processes, leading to unintentional human exposure. Diet is the primary source for non-smokers, with potatoes, cereals, and coffee being the main contributors. While animal studies have demonstrated that acrylamide is neurotoxic, genotoxic, mutagenic, and cardiotoxic, its effects on human cardiovascular health remain poorly understood.
