This article reviews pragmatic aspects of cannulation practice and types of cannulation devices, as well as their impact in vascular access for hemodialysis. Hemodialysis treatment requires successful insertion of two needles for each dialysis treatment. The first needle is the arterial needle; it removes blood with toxin accumulation from the patient and delivers it to the dialysis machine. The second needle, called the venous needle, returns the purified blood from the dialyzer to the patient. Mechanical and hemodynamic trauma related to needle insertions will be discussed.

Background: With Africa's population growth and an epidemiological shift from communicable to non-communicable diseases, there is an urgent need to expand vascular surgery capacity across the continent. Despite a high disease burden, Sub-Saharan Africa contributes less than 1% of the global surgical research, with significant challenges in surgical infrastructure, access to consumables, and limited research output. This study assesses the publication output of African authors in the top five vascular surgery journals and explores trends in African vascular research.

Tracheobronchial tuberculosis (TBTB) is a specific form of pulmonary tuberculosis characterized by Mycobacterium tuberculosis involvement in the tracheobronchial tree. Rapid and accurate diagnostic tools for TBTB are crucial. Raman spectroscopy (RS) is a noninvasive tool that accesses molecular vibrations and sample characteristics, enabling the creation of a molecular fingerprint of biological samples, which has enormous potential on clinical diagnosis for TBTB.

Purpose: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has emerged in clinical practice to minimize surgical trauma, providing patients with faster recovery, reduced pain and complications and enhanced aesthetic results compared to traditional surgery. However, this approach increase the risk of iatrogenic damage, i.e.

Europe is experiencing a significant demographic shift, with aging populations posing economic and social challenges due to increased healthcare costs and a higher prevalence of age-related diseases. Hungary, in particular, faces these challenges acutely due to higher morbidity and mortality rates from a range of chronic age-related diseases and behavioral risk factors. Addressing these issues requires innovative approaches to promote healthy aging.
