The main aim of this study was to enrich glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt known as one of the main compounds of licorice roots (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) by isoelectric focused adsorptive bubble separation technique with different foaming agents. In the experiments, four bubble separation parameters were used with β-lactoglobulin, albumin bovine, and starch (soluble) preferred as foaming agents and without additives. The enrichment of glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt into the foam was influenced by different additive substances. The results showed that highest enrichment values were obtained from β-lactoglobulin as much as 368.3 times. The lowest enrichment values (5.9 times) were determined for the application without additive. After enrichment, each experiment of glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt confirmed that these substances could be quantitatively enriched into the collection vessel with isoelectric focused adsorptive bubble separation technique. The transfer of glycyrrhizic acid ammonium salt into the foam from standard solution in the presence of additive was more efficient than aqueous licorice extract.

Blue light will be a promising alternative for photodynamic therapy in psoriasis, but the photosensitizer in vivo remains unexplored. Mesoporous zinc phosphate microparticle (MZP) was synthesized successfully in this study, as evidenced by XPS, XRD, and nitrogen adsorption experiments. Its psoriatic skin-sensitive property was corroborated by SEM and the higher cumulative release rate of that impregnated with curcumin (Cur) and glycyrrhizic acid (GA), namely Cur-GA-MZP, at pH 5.

Natural compounds demonstrate unique therapeutic advantages for cancer treatment, primarily through direct tumor suppression or interference with the tumor microenvironment (TME). Glycyrrhizic acid (GL), a bioactive ingredient derived from the medicinal herb Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch., and its sapogenin glycyrrhetinic acid (GA), have been recognized for their ability to inhibit angiogenesis and remodel the TME.

Huo-Xiang-Zheng-Qi Mixture is a renowned traditional Chinese medicine formula used to treat ailments associated with dampness pathogens. This study employed ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry to perform a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis of the chemical compounds in Huo-Xiang-Zheng-Qi Mixture. A total of 155 compounds were identified, including 61 flavonoids and their glycosides, 36 phenylethanoid glycosides, 23 saponins, 14 coumarins, 9 organic acids, 1 amino acid, 2 nucleosides and purines, and 9 additional compounds.

A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was established and validated for determining the concentrations of costunolide(CO), piperine(PI), agarotetrol(AG), glycyrrhizic acid(GL), vanillic acid(VA), and glycyrrhetinic acid(GA) in rat plasma. This method was then applied to the toxicokinetic study of these six compounds in rats with chronic cerebral ischemia(CCI) following multiple oral doses of Zhachong Shisanwei Pills. Finally, the effects of continuous multiple-dose administration of Zhachong Shisanwei Pills on the liver of CCI rats were investigated.

The processing of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is a core theory within TCM, embodying deep philosophical, cultural, and natural scientific wisdom. Among the various techniques, the "synergistic processing of medicinal materials and excipients" has garnered significant attention due to its uniqueness. This study explored the impact of the adjuvant Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma on the dynamic process of component transformation during the processing of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata using techniques such as acidic dye colorimetry, UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS, density functional theory(DFT), and molecular dynamics simulations(MDS).
