Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) is a transmembrane serine exopeptidase abundantly expressed in the kidneys, predominantly in the proximal tubule (PT); however, its non-enzymatic functions in this nephron segment remain poorly understood. While DPP4 physically associates with the Na /H exchanger isoform 3 (NHE3) and its inhibitors exert natriuretic effects, the DPP4 role in blood pressure (BP) regulation remains controversial. This study investigated the effects of PT-specific deletion ( ) and global deletion ( ) on systolic blood pressure (SBP), natriuresis, and NHE3 regulation under baseline and angiotensin II (Ang II)-stimulated conditions in both male and female mice.

Background: Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have increased insulin resistance (IR). The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is a marker of IR and is associated with the prognosis of patients on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the TyG index and the risk of death in patients on MHD.

Background: Proteinuria is associated with worse allograft outcomes in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) and treatment strategies are limited. We examined the outcomes of calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) to belatacept conversion in proteinuric KTRs.

Methods: In a pilot phase II single-arm multicenter prospective trial, we recruited adult KTRs >6 months post-kidney transplantation with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ≥30 ml/min/1.

Background: Infectious episodes contribute to morbidity and mortality in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV). Renal involvement, also known as ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis (AGN), is frequently observed in AAV. Little is known about whether co-infection at initial diagnosis is associated with renal outcome and prognosis in children with AGN.

Background: Nivolumab is an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) that selectively inhibits programmed cell death protein 1 activation, restoring antitumor immunity. ICIs are indicated for various types of advanced solid tumors; however, not all patients benefit from them, and tools that could be used in the clinic to predict response to treatment represent an unmet need. Here we describe the development of a new population pharmacokinetic (PPK) model in patients treated with nivolumab in clinical trials.
