N-confused monobenzo-dipyrrin cyclomerized to trioxo-expanded norrole 13a and an acyclic dimer 14 whereas doubly N-confused monobenzo and dibenzo-dipyrrins yielded aza-heptalene 15 and an acyclic dimer 16.
