An Optimized Protocol for Simultaneous Propagation of Patient-derived Organoids and Matching CAFs.

Bio Protoc

January 2025

Department of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA.

Recurrent hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer mortality in women. Recurrence and resistance to targeted therapies have been difficult to study due to the long clinical course of the disease, the complex nature of resistance, and the lack of clinically relevant model systems. Existing models are limited to a few HR+ cell lines, organoid models, and patient-derived xenograft models, all lacking components of the human tumor microenvironment.

Standardized naming convention and classification system for critical loads of nitrogen and sulfur deposition.

Ecosphere

June 2023

US Department of Agriculture - Forest Service, Air Resource Management, Washington, DC, USA.

Critical loads (CLs) of atmospheric deposition have been used for multiple decades to assess the impacts of air pollutants on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. However, these CLs have been developed by different researchers, at different times, using different methods, and are named in different ways with varying levels of information and levels of specificity. In this study, we identified the elements that describe CLs and used them to develop and test a standardized CL naming convention and a complementary CL classification system applicable to all CLs.

Current advances and challenges in mpox vaccine development: a global landscape.

Ther Adv Vaccines Immunother

January 2025

Virology Department of Professor Alborzi Clinical Microbiology Research Center, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran.

Given the surge in mpox outbreaks in 2022 and the advancements in domestic and international vaccine research, the effectiveness of smallpox vaccines in providing cross-protection against mpox remains crucial. Having learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is significant to continue evaluating existing vaccines to ensure their safety and efficacy. Developing new vaccines for widespread use against mpox and its emerging strains also serves as a preventive strategy in the ongoing battle against this dynamic infection.

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has emerged as a major cause of liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma. Investigation into the molecular mechanisms that underlie steatosis-to-NASH progression is key to understanding the development of NASH pathophysiology. Here, we present comprehensive multi-omic profiles of preclinical animal models to identify genes, non-coding RNAs, proteins, and plasma metabolites involved in this progression.
