Background: Hyperglycemia is a common feature associated with states of increased growth hormone secretion and glucocorticoid levels.
Aims: The purpose of these guidelines is to assist clinicians and other health care providers to take evidence-based therapeutic decisions for the treatment of hyperglycemia in patients with growth hormone and corticosteroid excess.
Methodology: Both the SID and SIE appointed members to represent each society and to collaborate in Guidelines writing. Members were chosen for their specific knowledge in the field. Each member agreed to produce--and regularly update--conflicts of interest. The Authors of these guidelines prepared their contributions following the recommendations for the development of Guidelines, using the standard classes of recommendation shown below. All members of the writing committee provided editing and systematic review of each part of the manuscript, and discussed the grading of evidence. Consensus was guided by a systematic review of all available trials and by interactive discussions.

Proper nutrition is essential during pregnancy to ensure an adequate supply of nutrients to the foetus and adequate maternal weight gain. In pregnancy complicated by diabetes (both gestational and pre-gestational), diet in terms of both the intake and quality of carbohydrates is an essential factor in glycaemic control. Maternal BMI at conception defines the correct weight increase during gestation in order to reduce maternal-foetal complications related to hypo- or hyper-nutrition.

Background: Although post-transplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) is a common complication after kidney transplantation, there are few data on prevention, optimal screening, and treatment strategies.
Methods: The European Renal Association's DESCARTES working group distributed a web-based survey to European transplant centres to gather information on risk assessment, screening procedures, and management practices for preventing and treating PTDM in kidney transplant recipients.
Results: Answers were obtained from 121/241 transplant centres (50%) across 15 European countries.

Cushing syndrome due to ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion (EAS) is rare and may progress rapidly, making treatment very challenging. We report a 27-year-old woman with metastatic neuroendocrine tumor (NET) who presented with sudden onset and rapidly progressing fatigue, muscle weakness, and weight gain. Laboratory findings confirmed severe EAS with new onset hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, and hyperglycemia.

The relationship between diabetes and pancreatic cancer is well documented; however, the effect of preoperative blood glucose levels on prognosis and postoperative complications is currently unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of preoperative blood glucose levels on overall survival (OS) and postoperative complications in patients with pancreatic cancer. This retrospective study included 225 patients with pancreatic cancer treated at The Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 2015 to December 2020.

Ferroptosis is a type of cell death triggered by the iron-dependent accumulation of lipid peroxides in cells. Diabetes, a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia, can lead to various health complications. The process of ferroptosis and the progression of diabetes are closely linked to redox homeostasis, which is regulated by the levels of reactive oxygen and sulfur species.
