Background: In this era of precision medicine, monitoring patients requires not only real time but also longitudinal sequence of samples at various time points. Based on this background, we focused on conditioned circumstances on fixation and storage for re-utilization of CTCs.

Materials: Instead of actual CTCs, Cell line (H1975) derived from lung cancer was used because of their scarceness of CTCs.

Methods: These cells were put on a slide by using an auto-smear device. The slides were evaluated under various centrifuge forces, fixations for the following storages.

Results And Discussion: The study indicated that 800 rpm for 1 min centrifuge and fixation by 95% ETOH was excellent. Further at least 5 cells per 1 mL cell solution were required for the following procedures including Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis. This study provides insights of new platform for evaluation of CTCs not only real time but also longitudinal sequence at various time points.

Article Synopsis
  • Zn-MnO batteries, using mild-acid electrolytes, are emerging as safe and cost-effective alternatives to Li-ion batteries for energy storage systems, but issues with MnO electrochemistry limit performance.
  • The dissolution of Mn ions into the electrolyte causes irreversible capacity loss and promotes the unwanted formation of zinc hydroxyl sulfate (ZHS) during prolonged use.
  • A new cell structure that includes an acid-treated carbon supportive layer (aCSL) enhances the battery's performance by providing extra reaction sites, boosting charge transfer, and allowing the recycling of dissolved Mn ions, resulting in over 3000 cycles with minimal capacity loss.

The commercial uptake of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries is undermined by their rapid performance decay and short cycle life. These problems originate from the dissolution of lithium polysulfide in liquid electrolytes, causing charge and active material to shuttle between electrodes. The dynamics of intractable polysulfide migration at different length scales often tend to escape the probing ability of many analytical techniques.

The suction decompression (SD) method, which proactively aspirates the blood flowing into the aneurysm and reduces the internal pressure of the aneurysm, is useful for clipping surgery of large and giant cerebral aneurysm. However, there has been little discussion on re-utilization of blood aspirated during SD. This study aimed to examine the safety, convenience, and usefulness of autologous transfusion of aspirated blood using a transfusion bag.

High-throughput technologies have allowed researchers to obtain genome-wide data from a wide array of experimental model systems. Unfortunately, however, new data generation tends to significantly outpace data re-utilization, and most high throughput datasets are only rarely used in subsequent studies or to generate new hypotheses to be tested experimentally. The reasons behind such data underutilization include a widespread lack of programming expertise among experimentalist biologists to carry out the necessary file reformatting that is often necessary to integrate published data from disparate sources.
