The ethical issues surrounding sacrifice methods in animal experimentation have garnered increasing attention, making immobilization and sedation an integral part of the sacrifice process for experimental animals. Currently, internationally recognized general sacrifice methods for commonly used laboratory animals have been established, but there remains significant controversy over the sacrifice methods for turtles. To explore the effectiveness of various immobilization methods and their impact on stress-related indicators in turtles, this study used red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) as subjects.

Sodium-glucose co-transport protein 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, a novel category of oral hypoglycemic agents, offer a promising outlook for individuals experiencing heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. Evidence is emerging that highlights their potential in alleviating myocardial fibrosis and oxidative stress. However, the precise mechanisms through which SGLT2 inhibitors influence myocardial fibrosis induced by angiotensin II (Ang II) or transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) are not fully understood.

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is susceptible to damage under high altitude hypoxic conditions, leading to gastrointestinal discomfort and intestinal barrier injury. Sodium butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid present as a metabolite in the gut, has emerged as a promising therapeutic agent due to its ability to act as an immunomodulatory agent and restore intestinal barrier integrity. This study aimed to explore the mechanism by which sodium butyrate exhibits anti inflammatory effect on intestinal epithelial cells.
