Background: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion has been a successful procedure in terms of patient satisfaction in the management of cervical myelopathy and radiculopathy. The procedure involves an anterior approach to the cervical vertebral column and decompression of the neural elements.
Aim: A key part of the procedure is the removal of the posterior osteophyte. This is usually performed using a high-speed burr. In inexperienced hands, this part of the procedure can be a challenging one.
Materials: Egg, egg cup, zinc oxide tape and high-speed burr.
Conclusion: We describe a simple and cost effective method of practicing this manoeuver, enabling the trainee to gain sufficient confidence in handling the tool around delicate tissues.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the ultrasonic bone burr (UBB) in facilitating C1 pedicle screw placement for atlantoaxial instability treatment, compared to the conventional high-speed drill (HSD) technique.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients undergoing posterior screw-rod fixation for atlantoaxial instability between December 2017 and July 2023. The patients were divided into 2 groups based on the tools used for screw placement: UBB and HSD.

Background And Importance: The surgical management of rostral disc herniations at L5-S1 poses challenges for conventional endoscopic approaches, particularly in patients who have had previous lumbar surgery. We present a full endoscopic transpedicular discectomy (FETD), whereby a pediculotomy is created to pass an endoscope through the pedicle for intracanal access. A 2-year-old, intact female Pomeranian presented with bilateral forelimb lameness, characterized by the olecranon making contact with the ground. The patient experienced two separate incidents of falling, occurring four and three weeks before admission, respectively.
