Both cast ceramic and metal post and cores were made for endodontically treated extracted teeth and restored with ceramic restorations. The ceramic posts did not change the translucency or color of the natural tooth, in contrast to the metal posts, which altered both. A clinical study followed, with eight restorations placed for a mean period of service of 11.3 months. One ceramic post failed early following cementation. This preliminary report indicates that ceramic posts and cores offer excellent esthetic results and may be strong enough for clinical use under normal conditions.

Roll-to-Roll Flash Joule Heating to Stabilize Electrocatalysts onto Meter-Scale Ni Foam for Advanced Water Splitting.

ACS Nano

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China.

The seamless integration of electrocatalysts onto the electrode is crucial for enhancing water electrolyzers, yet it is especially challenging when scaled up to large manufacturing. Despite thorough investigation, there are few reports that tackle this integration through roll-to-roll (R2R) methodology, a technique crucial for fulfilling industrial-scale demands. Here, we develop an R2R flash Joule heating (R2R-FJH) system to process catalytic electrodes with superior performance.

Purpose: To investigate how varying ferrule heights and the number of glass fiber posts affect fracture resistance and behavior of endodontically treated maxillary first premolars with substantial loss of tooth structure.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-four extracted endodontically treated human maxillary first premolars were divided into three groups (n = 8) based on ferrule height and post number. The groups were as follows: premolars of 2 mm ferrule height that were restored with single posts (control group), premolars of 0.

Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMSs) are essential for maintaining driving safety by continuously monitoring critical tire parameters, such as pressure and temperature, in real time during vehicle operation. Among these parameters, tire pressure is the most significant, necessitating the use of highly precise, cost-effective, and energy-efficient sensing technologies. With the rapid advancements in micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology, modern automotive sensing and monitoring systems increasingly rely on MEMS sensors due to their compact size, low cost, and low power consumption.
