TISACID (a new, modern Hungarian Al-containing antacid) with a high acid-neutralizing capacity (greater than 26.8 mmol/g) also enhances gastric mucosal defense mechanisms (prostaglandin-dependent gastroprotection). A simple-blind, prospective, randomized, parallel multicentre clinical trial has been performed on both the clinical efficacy and possible side effects of TISACID monotherapy (Al-Mg-hydroxy-carbonate) on informed patients suffering from active duodenal ulcers. The study groups were as follows: Group "A": 3 g/day of TISACID (acid-neutralizing capacity = 78 mmol, n = 85), Group "B": 6 g/day of TISACID (acid-neutralizing capacity = 156 mmol, n = 88), Group "C": 12 g/day of TISACID (acid-neutralizing capacity = 312 mmol, n = 68), Group "D": (as control): (1.0 g/day cimetidine (HISTODIL, RGH, Budapest, n = 91). The total number of patients: 332. It was found that: 1. The new Hungarian antacid compound (both tablet and suspension) can essentially accelerate the healing rate of duodenal ulcers. 2. The cumulative healing rate of ulcers and the decrease of complaints can be achieved equally by relatively low doses of TISACID monotherapy and cimetidine alone. 3. There were no differences between the clinical potency and side-effects of TISACID tablet and suspension.

Famotidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. It is available in multiple formulations, including film-coated tablets, chewable tablets, oral suspension, and injections. The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the film-coated tablet (FT) containing famotidine, magnesium hydroxide, and precipitated calcium carbonate, designed to be pharmaceutically equivalent to the marketed chewable tablet (CT).

Unlabelled: The relative influence of seasonal patterns in hydrological flow and seasonal differences in biological and geochemical activity on stream chemistry patterns is difficult to discern because they covary; temperate systems are characterized by lower mean flow in the summer (i.e. corresponding to deeper flow paths, elevated temperature, and biological activity), and higher mean flow in the winter (i.

Distribution and Characteristics of Blackwater Rivers and Streams of the Contiguous United States.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Research and Development, Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment, Pacific Ecological Systems Division, Corvallis, OR, USA.

Article Synopsis
  • Blackwater rivers and streams have tea-colored water due to tannins from decaying plants, and these waters typically have lower pH and oxygen levels compared to non-blackwater systems.
  • While blackwaters are most common in the eastern U.S., differences in water chemistry were found between blackwater and non-blackwater sites, but these differences varied by ecoregions, making it hard to generalize nationally.
  • The study suggests the need for improved understanding and management of blackwaters through better definitions, identification of stressors, and consistent assessment methods to protect their unique ecological conditions.

Demand for accurate estimation of coastal blue carbon sequestration rates in a regular interval has recently surged due to the increasing awareness of nature-based climate solutions to alleviate adverse impacts stemming from the recent global warming. The robust estimation method is, however, far from well-established. The international community requires, moreover, to quantify its effect of "management.

Soil acidification induced by reactive nitrogen (N) inputs is a major environmental issue in grasslands, as it lowers the acid neutralizing capacity (ANC). The specific impacts of different N compound forms on ANC remain unclear. Grassland management practices like mowing and grazing can remove a considerable amount of soil N and other nutrients, potentially mitigating soil acidification by removing N from the ecosystem or aggravating it by removing base cations.
