A term, healthy infant presented with respiratory distress and severe pulmonary hypertension (PH). With an unclear aetiology and the intent to decrease right ventricular afterload, pulmonary vasodilators were initiated. Follow-up imaging revealed a supravalvular mitral ring as the cause of the PH which resolved after surgical resection of the membrane.

Background: Systemic light chain amyloidosis is a rare and debilitating disease, especially for which initially presented with digestive tract involvement. Objective: Despite cystoscopy plays an important role in bladder tumors diagnosis, it often falls short in flat cancerous tissue and minuscule satellite lesions. It can easily lead to a missed diagnosis by the urologist, which can lead to a swift tumor regrowth following transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT). Therefore, we developed a deep learning-based intelligent diagnosis system for early bladder cancer to improve the identification rate of early bladder tumors.

[Undifferentiated and dedifferentiated renal cell carcinomas : Morphomolecular aspects and differential diagnosis in light of recent developments].

Pathologie (Heidelb)

December 2024

Institut für Pathologie, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Krankenhausstraße 8-10, 91054, Erlangen, Deutschland.

Histological subtyping of diverse renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) has seen significant changes during the last two decades. This resulted in the introduction of several new phenotypically and genetically defined entities, many which are also listed in the current WHO classification. Some of these well-defined entities may, under certain circumstances, undergo a process of dedifferentiation resulting in loss of their phenotypic and immunohistochemical features, hence adopting a non-descript anaplastic morphology.
