A 13-year-old Egyptian girl with generalized hypertrichosis, gingival hyperplasia, coarse facial appearance, no cardiovascular or skeletal anomalies, keloid formation, and multiple labial frenula was referred to our clinic for counseling. Molecular analysis of the ABCC9 gene showed a de novo missense mutation located in exon 27, which has been described previously with Cantu syndrome. An overlap between Cantu syndrome, acromegaloid facial syndrome, and hypertrichosis acromegaloid facial features disorder is apparent at the phenotypic and molecular levels. The patient reported here gives further evidence that these syndromes are an expression of the ABCC9-related disorders, ranging from hypertrichosis and acromegaloid facies to the severe end of Cantu syndrome.

Background: Headache, often migrainous, is common in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies, whether or not they meet Sydney criteria for a definite diagnosis of Hughes syndrome. Migraine may be a harbinger of stroke in this patient population and even refractory migraine may be highly responsive to antithrombotic therapy in this clinical context.
Purpose: To summarize what is known to date about managing this important manifestation of the immune-mediated hypercoagulable Hughes syndrome.
Genetic variants in the gene, encoding the SUR2 auxiliary subunit from K channels, were previously linked with various inherited diseases. This wide range of congenital disorders includes multisystem and cardiovascular pathologies. The gain-of-function mutations result in Cantu syndrome, acromegaloid facial appearance, hypertrichosis, and acromegaloid facial features.

Pseudoacromegaly encompasses a heterogeneous group of conditions in which patients have clinical features of acromegaly or gigantism, but no excess of GH or IGF-1. Acromegaloid physical features or accelerated growth in a patient may prompt referral to endocrinologists. Because pseudoacromegaly conditions are rare and heterogeneous, often with overlapping clinical features, the underlying diagnosis may be challenging to establish.
