Objective: To investigate the efficacy of laparoscopic sigmoid extraperitoneal colostomy combined with pelvic peritoneal closure in abdominoperineal resection for low rectal cancer.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 162 patients with low rectal cancer, who underwent laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection from January 2015 to January 2019 at the Affiliated Peace Hospital of Changzhi Medical College. Extraperitoneal stoma construction was performed in 98 patients (study group), while 64 patients (control group) underwent the procedure without suturing the pelvic peritoneum.

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a very effective method in the treatment of dehiscent, infected, and non-healing wounds. Difficult wound healing occurs especially in late pregnancy due to the rapid enlargement of the uterus and the constantly increasing tension of the entire abdominal wall. In cases of dehiscence of the surgical wound during pregnancy, proper subsequent treatment is needed, where it is necessary to consider the safety of the mother as well as the fetus.

We present 2 cases of ischemic complications in nonsmoking patients treated with fremanezumab, a biologic medication for severe migraines. A 55-year-old woman underwent lipoabdominoplasty on December 18, 2023.

Defect width (DW) is the key index in hernia staging but does not precisely indicate the requirement for component separation (CS). DW as a percentage of transverse abdominal diameter (TAD) determined by CT imaging was investigated for its capacity to indicate the necessity of CS for successful defect closure under physiological tension.
