In the present contribution we present an overview of our recent studies using the "kinetics by imaging" approach for CO oxidation on heterogeneous model systems. The method is based on the correlation of the PEEM image intensity with catalytic activity: scaled down to the μm-sized surface regions, such correlation allows simultaneous local kinetic measurements on differently oriented individual domains of a polycrystalline metal-foil, including the construction of local kinetic phase diagrams. This allows spatially- and component-resolved kinetic studies and, e.g., a direct comparison of inherent catalytic properties of Pt(hkl)- and Pd(hkl)-domains or supported μm-sized Pd-powder agglomerates, studies of the local catalytic ignition and the role of defects and grain boundaries in the local reaction kinetics.

Inosine Monophosphate Dehydrogenase (IMPDH) catalyzes rate-limiting step of the reaction converting inosine monophosphate (IMP) to guanine nucleotides. IMPDH is up-regulated in the healthy proliferating cells and also in tumor cells to meet their elevated demand for guanine nucleotides. An exclusive regulatory mechanism for this enzyme is filamentation, through which IMPDH can resist allosteric inhibition by the end product, GTP.

Microbial compartment provides a promising approach for achieving high-valued chemical biosynthesis from renewable feedstock. However, volatile precursor could be utilized by pathway enzyme, which may hinder and adverse the cascade catalysis within microbial cell factory. Here, a customizable compartment was developed for pathway sequestration using spatially assembled cascade catalysis reaction.

Covalent triazine frameworks (CTFs) are emerging as promising platform for photocatalysis, yet their highly symmetric structure leads to significant charge recombination. Herein, we employed a facile non-metallic boron (B) modification with precisely controlled doping site to introduce asymmetric local electron distribution in CTFs, achieving a 15-fold activity enhancement for CO-to-CH conversion. Calculations including frontier orbitals, dipole moments and molecular electrostatic potentials firmly demonstrated the formation of localized polarized electron regions in CTF-1 via B doping.

In this study, a novel "OFF-ON" fluorescent probe MPZ ((E)-5-((10-ethyl-2-methoxy-10H-phenothiazin-3-yl)methylene)thiazolidine-2,4-dione) based on phenothiazine is synthesized, which can rapidly (7 s) detect biogenic amines (BAs) through deprotonation, utilizing both colorimetric and fluorescent dual channels. An app for visual portable detection of fish freshness, named "Visual Evaluation", is independently developed. This app integrates several functions, including image capture, editable scanning of red, green, and blue (RGB) values, data analysis fitting, data storage, and verification.

This strategy was designed to inhibit mutation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus responsible for COVID-19. This study explores the dynamics of viral evolution under stringent non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) through real-world observations.
