Research on brain aging using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) has typically focused on comparing "older" adults to younger adults. Importantly, these studies have often neglected the middle age group, which is also significantly impacted by brain aging, including by early changes in motor, memory, and cognitive functions. This study aims to address this limitation by examining the resting state networks in middle-aged adults via an exploratory whole-brain ROI-to-ROI analysis.

Various styles and models of leadership can be used in nursing practice, with transformational leadership generally considered to be the most effective style. This article explores the application of Kouzes and Posner's Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership framework to the safeguarding of residents from abuse in residential care settings in the Republic of Ireland. The authors outline and critically evaluate Kouzes and Posner's five fundamental leadership practices in this context.

Background/aims: Social connectedness is increasingly recognised as influencing health outcomes in cancer caregivers; however, there is little understanding of factors which foster feelings of social connectedness among caregivers when providing care. We sought to examine from the caregivers' perspective, factors which contribute to perceived social connection when providing care to someone with cancer.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 caregivers of people with cancer.

Background: Effective connectivity (EC) analysis provides valuable insights into the directionality of neural interactions, crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying cognitive and emotional regulation in depressive and anxiety disorders. This study examined EC within key neural networks during working memory (WM) and emotional regulation (ER) tasks in young adults, both healthy and seeking help from mental health professionals for emotional distress.
Methods: Dynamic Causal Modeling (DCM) was employed to analyze EC in two independent samples (n=97 and n=94).
