Organically modified vermiculites were synthesized by previous silylation of three leached vermiculites, V0.3Cl, V0.5Cl and V0.8Cl, under anhydrous conditions following reaction with imidazole (Im), which acted as chelating agent for copper retention. Elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, (29)Si and (13)C NMR and nitrogen adsorption/desorption measurements were used to characterize pristine, leached and organofunctionalized solids. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to evaluate the surface after copper sorption. Parameters such as contact time, pH and initial cation concentration for the adsorption of Cu(II) ions were investigated. The adsorption equilibrium data were fitted using the Langmuir isotherm model and the monolayer adsorption capacities were 2.38, 2.52 and 2.69mmolg(-1) for V0.5Cl-Im, V0.3Cl-Im and V0.8Cl-Im, respectively, at pH 6.0 and 298K for a time reaction of 80min. The sorption rates were described by pseudo-second-order kinetics. The chloropropyl imidazole vermiculites are promising adsorbents for the rapid removal of Cu(II) ions from aqueous solution.

E-selectin (CD62E) is an adhesion molecule expressed on the surface of endothelial cells (ECs) and its level increases significantly upon the stimulation of ECs by inflammatory factors. Quantitative analysis of CD62E is of great importance to early diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases and hypertension. A new method for the determination of CD62E was developed using a portable pH meter in this work.

The linkage of an imidazole-based N-heterocyclic olefin (NHO), containing a terminal CH2 donor group, with a phosphorus-centered diradical molecular fragment leads to an open-shell singlet diphospha-indenylide system, a new class of P-heterocycles, which can be interpreted both as a phosphorus-centered diradicaloid and as a zwitterion with a permanent, overall charge separation between the N- and P-heterocyclic ring systems. The rotation of the imidazole ring, which is thermally possible due to a central C-C bond with a weakened π-component, changes both the charge separation and diradical character depending on the dihedral angle, as quantum mechanical calculations indicate. By varying the bulkiness of substituents at the imidazole-based NHO, it was possible to obtain different diphospha-indenylide species with different rotation angles in the solid state and hence varying diradical character.

Mesoporous Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Support from ZIF-8 for Pt Catalysts in Oxygen Reduction Reaction.

Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) has been extensively studied as a precursor for nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) materials due to its high surface area, tunable porosity, and adjustable nitrogen content. However, the intrinsic microporous structure of the ZIF-8 limits mass transport and accessibility of reactants to active sites, reducing its effectiveness in electrochemical applications. In this study, a soft templating approach using a triblock copolymer was used to prepare mesoporous ZIF-8-derived NC (Meso-ZIF-NC) samples.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), a condition predominantly caused by , affects millions of women worldwide, prompting the need for alternative treatments due to the side effects and increasing resistance associated with conventional imidazole antifungals. This study investigated VAGINNE, a novel fermentation broth derived from species, as a potential VVC treatment. Using a BALB/c mouse model of infection, we evaluated VAGINNE's effects on vaginal microbiome composition, inflammatory markers, and tissue integrity.

In the current work, the MWCNTs/ZnO nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using simple method. Then, FE-SEM, XRD, and EDX techniques were applied for morphological and structural characterization. Afterward, a sensitive voltammetric sensor based on modification of a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) using MWCNTs/ZnO nanocomposite was developed for the determination of doxorubicin in the presence of dacarbazine.
