Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is an attractive anode material for energy storage devices due to its low-volume-change and high safety. However, TiO2 anodes usually suffer from poor electrical and ionic conductivity, thus causing dramatic degradation of electrochemical performance at rapid charge/discharge rates, which has hindered its use in energy storage devices. Here, we present a novel strategy to address this main obstacle via using nanoarchitectured TiO2 anode consisting of mesoporous TiO2 wrapped in carbon on a tunnel-like etched aluminum substrate prepared by a simple one-step approach. As a result of this nanoarchitecture arrangement, the anode exhibits excellent rate performance and superior cyclability. A rate up to 100 C is achieved with a high specific capacity of about 95 mA h g(-1), and without apparent decay after 8,000 cycles.

One of the biggest issues of wide bandgap semiconductor use in photocatalytic wastewater treatment is the reusability of the material and avoiding the contamination of water with the material itself. In this paper, we report on a novel TiO aeromaterial (aero-TiO) consisting of hollow microtetrapods with ZnTiO inclusions. Atomic layer deposition has been used to obtain particles of unique shape allowing them to interlock thereby protecting the photocatalyst from erosion and damage when incorporated in active filters.

Porphyrin and porphyrinoid derivatives have been extensively studied in the assembly of catalysts and sensors, seeking biomimetic and bioinspired activity. In particular, Fe and Ni porphyrins can be used for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) by immobilization of these molecular catalysts on semiconductor materials. In this study, we designed a hybrid material containing a crystalline mesoporous TiO thin film in which the catalytic centres are Ni-porphyrin (NiP), Fe-porphyrin (FeP), and a NiP/FeP bimetallic system to assess whether the coexistence of both metalloporphyrins improves the OER activity.

Structural engineering and hybridization of heterogeneous 2D materials can be effective for advanced supercapacitor. Furthermore, architectural design of electrodes particularly with vertical construction of structurally anisotropic graphene nanosheets, can significantly enhance the electrochemical performance. Herein, MXene-derived TiO nanocomposites hybridized with vertical graphene is synthesized via CO laser irradiation on MXene/graphene oxide nanocomposite film.

Phenol is one of the most important fine chemical intermediates in the synthesis of plastics and drugs with a market size of ca. $30b and the commercial production is via a two-step selective oxidation of benzene, requiring high energy input (high temperature and high pressure) in the presence of a corrosive acidic medium, and causing serious environmental issues. Here we present a four-phase interface strategy with well-designed Pd@Cu nanoarchitecture decorated TiO as a catalyst in a suspension system.

Up to now, the use of TiO has been considered a promising advanced technology for organic pollutants removal from air or water, since it has high biological and chemical stability, high photoactivity, low toxicity, and low-cost production. However, there are issues to be addressed in enhancing TiO performance, and one of the current key issues is redesigning UV-active photocatalysts and making them active in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum. This way, solar light absorption will be insured, and thus, a more efficient photocatalyst could be obtained.
