We evaluated the performance of seven existing risk scoring systems in predicting advanced colorectal neoplasia in an asymptomatic Chinese cohort. We prospectively recruited 5,899 Chinese subjects aged 50-70 years in a colonoscopy screening programme(2008-2014). Scoring systems under evaluation included two scoring tools from the US; one each from Spain, Germany, and Poland; the Korean Colorectal Screening(KCS) scores; and the modified Asia Pacific Colorectal Screening(APCS) scores. The c-statistics, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive values(PPVs), and negative predictive values(NPVs) of these systems were evaluated. The resources required were estimated based on the Number Needed to Screen(NNS) and the Number Needed to Refer for colonoscopy(NNR). Advanced neoplasia was detected in 364 (6.2%) subjects. The German system referred the least proportion of subjects (11.2%) for colonoscopy, whilst the KCS scoring system referred the highest (27.4%). The c-statistics of all systems ranged from 0.56-0.65, with sensitivities ranging from 0.04-0.44 and specificities from 0.74-0.99. The modified APCS scoring system had the highest c-statistics (0.65, 95% C.I. 0.58-0.72). The NNS (12-19) and NNR (5-10) were similar among the scoring systems. The existing scoring systems have variable capability to predict advanced neoplasia among asymptomatic Chinese subjects, and further external validation should be performed.

Objective: This study investigates the diagnostic value of Vesical Imaging Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS) in biparametric MRI (bp-MRI) for the detection of muscular infiltration in bladder cancer, and to investigate whether apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value can function as a potential indicator of bp-MRI VI-RADS for patient benefit.
Materials And Methods: This single-center retrospective study enrolled 81 patients with pathologically confirmed bladder cancer from October 2019 to November 2021. Two readers independently scored the T2-weighted images and diffusion-weighted images of each index lesion based on the VI-RADS criteria, subsequently deriving the bp-MRI VI-RADS scores.

IntroductionPediatric asthma is a common respiratory disease that burdens affected patients, their caregivers, and the entire healthcare system. Uncontrolled asthma ultimately impacts patients' quality of life. There are limited studies examining the factors associated with asthma control and quality of life.

CLN2 disease (late infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis) is an autosomal recessive, neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disease that results from loss of function mutations in the gene, which encodes tripeptidyl peptidase 1. It affects the central nervous system (CNS) with progressive neurodegeneration and early death, typically at ages from 8 to 12 years. Twenty years ago, our phase I clinical trial treated subjects with CLN2 disease by a catheter-based CNS administration of an adeno-associated virus vector serotype 2 (AAV2) expressing the gene.

Introduction: Pneumonia is a common symptom of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), and this study aimed to determine how analyzing initial thoracic computerized-tomography (CT) scans using semi-quantitative methods could be used to predict the outcomes for hospitalized patients.
Materials And Methods: This study looked at previously collected data from adult patients who were hospitalized with a positive test for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 and had CT scans of their thorax at the time of presentation. The CT scans were evaluated for the extent of lung involvement using a semi-quantitative scoring system ranging from 0 to 72.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is a significant burden on healthcare systems, especially in low- and middle-income countries where access to diagnosis and treatment is challenging.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy and cost using tissue microarray (TMA) instead of traditional immunohistochemical (IHC) evaluation for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2), and the proliferation marker Ki-67 and BC subtyping within the Brazilian public health system.
Design: This is a retrospective cohort study comparing TMA slides with traditional whole-slide evaluation for IHC markers in 242 BC cases.
