Purpose: The childhood hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) sequelae cohort study (HNHFMDCS) is an ambispective cohort study of patients with HFMD based in Henan Province, China, consisting of patients treated in a key hospital for the diagnosis and treatment of HFMD in Henan Province. The study aims to investigate the long-term sequelae of HFMD survivors and to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential harm caused by this infectious disease.

Participants: In the retrospective phase of the cohort study, children diagnosed with HFMD from January 2014 to January 2023 were included, and clinical and demographic information about the patients was collected through a self-developed questionnaire.

Background: Engagement of clinicians who understand clinical workflows and technology constraints can accelerate the development and implementation of better electronic health record (EHR) designs that improve quality and reduce burnout. Provider builder programs can accelerate clinical informatics education for a broader coalition of clinical specialties.

Objective: In this State of the Art / Best Practice paper, we aim to (1) propose a provider builder maturity model informed by the experience of three institutions using a single EHR vendor (Epic Systems©) and (2) describe the program elements and relationships necessary to advance along this model to yield organizational benefits.

How age affects human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and strategies to mitigate HSPC aging.

Exp Hematol

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Experimental Hematology, National Clinical Research Center for Blood Diseases, Haihe Laboratory of Cell Ecosystem, Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Tianjin 300020, China; Tianjin Institutes of Health Science, Tianjin, China.. Electronic address:

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are central to blood formation and play a pivotal role in hematopoietic and systemic aging. With aging, HSCs undergo significant functional changes, such as an increased stem cell pool, declined homing and reconstitution capacity, and skewed differentiation towards myeloid and megakaryocyte/platelet progenitors. These phenotypic alterations are likely due to the expansion of certain clones, known as clonal hematopoiesis (CH), which leads to disrupted hematopoietic homeostasis, including anemia, impaired immunity, higher risks of hematological malignancies, and even associations with cardiovascular disease, highlighting the broader impact of HSC aging on overall health.

Deep proximal gradient network for absorption coefficient recovery in photoacoustic tomography.

January 2025

North China Electric Power University - Baoding Campus, North China Electric Power University, Baoding, Hebei Province, P.R.China, Baoding, Hebei, 071003, CHINA.

Objective: The optical absorption properties of biological tissues in photoacoustic tomography are typically quantified by inverting acoustic measurements. Conventional approaches to solving the inverse problem of forward optical models often involve iterative optimization. However, these methods are hindered by several challenges, including high computational demands, the need for regularization, and sensitivity to both the accuracy of the forward model and the completeness of the measurement data.

Objective: Our aim was to explore the joint impacts of depressive symptoms along with triglyceride-glucose index (TyGi) on major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients who have acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and investigate whether the impact of depressive symptoms on MACE is mediated through the TyGi.

Methods: This extensive cohort study included 3681 ACS patients. Depressive symptoms and TyGi were assessed at baseline, and the patients were subsequently followed for two years to monitor the occurrence of MACE.
