We report the synthesis and characterisation of new examples of meso-hydroxynickel(II) porphyrins with 5,15-diphenyl and 10-phenyl-5,15-diphenyl/diaryl substitution. The OH group was introduced by using carbonate or hydroxide as nucleophile by using palladium/phosphine catalysis. The NiPor-OHs exist in solution in equilibrium with the corresponding oxy radicals NiPor-O . The 15-phenyl group stabilises the radicals, so that the H NMR spectra of {NiPor-OH} are extremely broad due to chemical exchange with the paramagnetic species. The radical concentration for the diphenylporphyrin analogue is only 1 %, and its NMR line-broadening was able to be studied by variable-temperature NMR spectroscopy. The EPR signals of NiPor-O are consistent with somewhat delocalised porphyrinyloxy radicals, and the spin distributions calculated by using density functional theory match the EPR and NMR spectroscopic observations. Nickel(II) meso-hydroxy-10,20-diphenylporphyrin was oxidatively coupled to a dioxo-terminated porphodimethene dyad, the strongly red-shifted electronic spectrum of which was successfully modelled by using time-dependent DFT calculations.

Deuterated molecules are of growing interest because of the specific characteristics of deuterium, such as stronger C-D bonds being stronger than C-H bonds. Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are widely utilized in scientific fields (e. g.

Modulation of the crystal field (CF) in lanthanide (Ln) complexes can enhance optical and magnetic properties, and large CF splitting can be achieved with low coordination numbers in specific geometries. We previously reported that the homoleptic near-linear Sm complex [Sm{N(SiPr)}] () is oxidized by the 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxy (TEMPO) radical to give the heteroleptic, approximately trigonal planar Sm complex, [Sm{N(SiPr)}(TEMPO)] (). Here, we report the synthesis of homologous [Ln{N(SiPr)}(TEMPO)] (; Ln = Tm, Yb) complexes by the oxidation of the parent [Ln{N(SiPr)}] (; Ln = Tm, Yb) with TEMPO; complexes all contain TEMPO anions.

Epoxy resins (EPs) are highly flammable, and traditional flame retardant modifications often lead to a significant reduction in their mechanical performance, limiting their applications in aerospace and electrical and electronic fields. In this study, a novel flame retardant, bis(4-(((diphenylphosphoryl)oxy)methyl)phenyl)phenyl phosphate (DMP), was successfully prepared and introduced into the EP matrix. When the addition of DMP was 9 wt%, the EP/9 wt% DMP thermosets passed the UL-94 V-0 rating, and their LOI was increased from 24.

Here, we present a metal-free photosensitized three-component reaction for the carboimination of alkenes based on oxime carbonates. Homolysis of oxime carbonates via light-mediated energy transfer enables the simultaneous generation of iminyl radicals and alkoxycarbonyloxyl radicals. The alkoxycarbonyloxyl and alkoxy radicals can act as an effective hydrogen atom transfer reagent, abstracting hydrogen atoms from alkanes and aldehydes, silanes, and phosphine oxide.
