Mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) is an advanced biomaterial widely recognized for its application in bone regenerative engineering. This study synthesized an MBG powder (80 mol% SiO, 5 mol% PO, and 15 mol% CaO) using a facile sol-gel method with the non-ionic surfactant Pluronic P123, which acted as a pore-forming agent. MBGs form bioactive surfaces that facilitate HA formation, and the presence of Pluronic P123 increases the surface area and promotes HA nucleation.

Preparation of Molecularly Imprinted Electrochemical Sensors and Analysis of the Doping of Epinephrine in Equine Blood.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Monocrystalline Silicon Semiconductor Materials and Technology, Shandong Provincial Engineering Research Center of Organic Functional Materials and Green Low-Carbon Technology, Shandong Universities Engineering Research Center of Integrated Circuits Functional Materials and Expanded Applications, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Dezhou University, Dezhou 253023, China.

In this paper, a novel molecularly imprinted polymer membrane modified glassy carbon electrode for electrochemical sensors (MIP-OH-MWCNTs-GCE) for epinephrine (EP) was successfully prepared by a gel-sol method using an optimized functional monomer oligosilsesquioxane-AlO sol-ITO composite sol (ITO-POSS-AlO). Hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (OH-MWCNTs) were introduced during the modification of the electrodes, and the electrochemical behavior of EP on the molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensors was probed by the differential pulse velocity (DPV) method. The experimental conditions were optimized.

Study on Refined Crushing Technology of RAP and Mechanical Properties of RAP-Doped Cement-Stabilised Macadam Base.

Materials (Basel)

January 2025

Gansu Industry Technology Center of Transportation Construction Materials Research and Application, Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Lanzhou 730070, China.

In order to study the effect of the crushing process on the fine separation of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and the mechanical properties of cement-stabilised aggregate mixed with RAP, four crushing processes, namely small mesh hammer crushing, hammer crushing, jaw crushing, and double roller crushing, were used to separate the aggregate from asphalt in RAP materials. The effect of crushing on the grading characteristics and agglomeration condition of RAP material was investigated. RAP cement-stabilised aggregates were prepared and analysed for their mechanical properties and micro-morphology using RAP materials obtained from fine separation.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) impairs the central nervous system and induces the myelin-sheath-deterioration because of reactive oxygen species (ROS), further hindering the recovery of function. Herein, the simultaneously emergency treatment and dynamic luminescence severity assessment (SETLSA) strategy is designed for SCI based on cerium (Ce)-doped upconversion antioxidant nanoenzymes (Ce@UCNP-BCH). Ce@UCNP-BCH can not only efficiently eliminate the SCI localized ROS, but dynamically monitor the oxidative state in the SCI repair process using a ratiometric luminescence signal.

Doping with meclofenoxate, a nootropic stimulant prohibited in-competition by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), is identified through the primary marker of urinary 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid (4-CPA). However, the presence of 4-CPA can also arise from permissible sources. This study ventured into comparing urinary excretion patterns among exposures to permitted chemicals (chlorphenesin and 4-CPA) and the banned stimulant (meclofenoxate) and interpreting the analytical findings according to the reporting requirements.
