The peculiarities of a clinical course, results of pharmacological and interventional treatment in 447 patients with noncoronary cardiac arrhythmias were analyzed. A definition highly curable cardiac arrhythmia is introduced. The high efficiency and safety of the method of radiofrequency ablation in patients with highly curable cardiac arrhythmias that allows soldiers to leave the military service, as well as to enter military service under the contract. Proposed implementation of the control medical examination to conduct endocardial electrophysiological study and the subsequent medical examination to determine the category of fitness for military service not earlier than 6 months after surgery.

Metastatic prostate cancer remains incurable. Though significant progress has been made in the field, the search for agents that improve outcomes for patients is ongoing. Several clinical trials have explored the benefit of combining PARP inhibitors (PARPi) with androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPIs) for metastatic castrate resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), especially those cancers with alterations in homologous recombination repair (HRR) genes.

Comparison of oral cancer versus competing factors as cause of death: Single institution experience with long-term follow up.

J Craniomaxillofac Surg

November 2024

University of Zagreb School of Medicine, Department of Hematology, University Hospital Dubrava, Avenue Gojko Susak 6, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia.

Article Synopsis
  • - Patients with oral cancer who are clinically node-negative (cN0) and treated primarily with surgery show significant mortality risks from competing causes, not just cancer recurrence.
  • - In a study of 152 long-term survivors, 76 patients died, with 22.4% of deaths caused by the primary tumor recurrence and 27.6% from other factors, primarily cardiovascular disease and second primary cancers.
  • - The findings suggest that while these patients can be highly curable for their initial cancer, nearly one-third die from other causes, emphasizing the need for tailored follow-up care focusing on these specific risks after the fourth year of treatment.

Multi-Mechanism Collaborative Bionic Fixation Technique Between a Wide Range of Solid Interfaces.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

November 2024

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Bionic Materials and Equipment, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, 29 Yudao Street, Nanjing, 210016, China.

For rough surfaces, stable, fast, and repeatable fixation has wide applicability in transportation, fire protection, and other fields. Different rough surfaces present technical challenges for achieving convenient and reliable fixation. Based on the highly adhesive attachment structures of typical organisms, a multi-mechanism (negative pressure adsorption, mechanical locking, and chemical bonding) cooperative bionic fixation device is proposed.
