Objective: Long QT interval syndrome (LQTS) is a highly dangerous cardiac disease that can lead to sudden cardiac death; however, its underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. This study is conceived to investigate the impact of two general genotypes of LQTS type 2, and also the therapeutic effects of an emerging immunology-based treatment named KCNQ1 antibody.
Methods: A multiscale virtual heart is developed, which contains multiple biological levels ranging from ion channels to a three-dimensional cardiac structure with realistic geometry.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) occurs commonly after cardiac surgery and is associated with multiple adverse outcomes. Older randomized trials suggested that perioperative β- blockade reduced postoperative AF, and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) composite measure includes β-blocker administration preoperatively within 24 hours of surgery and at discharge. However, some more recent studies suggest preoperative β-blockade has limited value and question its continuation as an STS quality measure.

Background: Wide QRS complex (QRS) tachycardia in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or atrial flutter treated with antiarrhythmic drugs can occur for a variety of reasons and needs careful evaluation for appropriate management of the patient.
Case Summary: We report a case of wide QRS complex tachycardia in a patient with AF treated with Flecainide who received multiple external cardioversion attempts for a presumed diagnosis of ventricular tachycardia. Intravenous Diltiazem and an oral beta-blocker led to the resolution of wide QRS complex tachycardia.
