The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is a ginglymo-diarthrodial joint known to be the most complex joint in human body. Growth disturbances, owing to genetic influences or trauma during the intrauterine life or during early developmental age may lead to morphological and functional variations in the mandible resulting in developmental anomaly. We report a rare case of altered sigmoid notch morphology on the right side and condylar hypoplasia on the left side, not related to any clear pathological disorder. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) was helpful in evaluating this case. This case of unknown aetiology was thoroughly examined; based on clinical and radiographic findings, we suggest that this case is of congenital origin.

Background: The lingula is an important landmark for conducting certain mandibular surgery procedures, such as sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) and intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy (IVRO). The purpose of this study was to investigate the location of the lingula in both horizontal and vertical planes among four different shapes of the mandibular ramus.
Methods: Ninety patients, 60 female and 30 male, underwent cone beam computed tomography scans to evaluate the measurements of the lingula tip (Li) in relation to the anterior border (AB), posterior border (PB), sigmoid notch (SN), and inferior border (IB) of the ramus.

There are many good reasons to improve the anatomy of a distal radius fracture, such as early return to function and avoidance of sigmoid notch incongruity or ulnocarpal impaction. It is often feared by patients, and portrayed by some authors of scientific articles and medicolegal reports, that a fracture of the distal radius has a propensity to cause symptomatic osteoarthritis. This article examines some of the current evidence and shares the authors' experience.

Fractures of the condylar region of the mandible, although fairly common, also generate the most debate regarding management-both closed and open treatment options have been recommended and shown to yield good results. We present our experience with a minimal access retromandibular approach to fractures of the vertical mandible. This is a retrospective study of all patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation for fractures of the vertical mandible (condyle, subcondylar region, ramus) using a retromandibular approach at a tertiary care hospital in a metropolitan city in India between January 2022 and July 2023.
