Late Reconstruction of a Traumatic Trapeziometacarpal Dislocation with a Semi-constrained Prosthesis: A Case Report.

Eur J Trauma Emerg Surg

Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Ziekenhuis Rivierenland, Tiel, The Netherlands.

Published: December 2007

Traumatic dislocation of the trapeziometacarpal joint is rare. A stable reduction should be accomplished as soon as possible, usually with K-wiring. In this case of persistent instability a semi-constrained prosthesis was applied successfully.

Background: Knee arthroplasty procedures improve pain, function, stability, and appearance of the limb. Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in severe, long-standing osteoarthritis (OA) with large medial tibial defects could be a challenge. This paper looks at TKA outcomes when large tibial defects are managed without metal wedges or stems.

Background: The Coonrad-Morrey prosthesis (CMP) is a widely applied semi-constrained implant that effectively counteracts compression and thrust on the hinge. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the indications and outcomes of CMP across different aetiologies for which it was implanted.

Materials And Methods: Selected articles were reviewed to extract: population data, surgical indications, preoperative and postoperative clinical outcomes, survival rate, and complications.

Use of semi-constrained total knee arthroplasty in gonarthrosis with collateral ligament insufficiency: Clinical and functional outcomes.

Introduction: Achieving stability in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is crucial for long-term implant survival. In cases of severe deformity or ligament laxity, constrained implants may be required. Traditionally, increasing constraint involved intramedullary stems.

Revision for stiff knee after knee replacement.

Orthop Traumatol Surg Res

February 2025

Service d'Orthopédie 2, CHU Lille, France.

Stiffness following total knee replacement is defined as >15° flexion contracture and/or flexion <75° or, for other authors, arc of motion <70° or 45° or 50°. Alternatively, it could be defined as a range of motion less than the patient needs in order to be able to do what they wish. The first step in management is to determine the causes: preoperative (history of stiffness, patient-related risk factors, etc.
