Biliopleural fistula (BF) is an uncommon complication that can occur after liver transplantation (LT). This condition, characterized by pleural biliary effusion, can lead to severe complications, particularly in immunocompromised patients. In this report, we present a clinical case detailing the successful treatment of BF following an adult-to-adult left lobe living donor LT (LDLT).

To evaluate the feasibility of liver tract embolization after transhepatic biliary drainage using a biodegradable polymer plug (IMPEDE-FX, Shape Memorial Medical, Santa Clara, CA, USA).In a retrospective observational study, 15 plug embolizations were performed in 13 patients at risk for tract-related adverse events (AEs). Risk factors included coagulopathy, cirrhosis, central bile duct puncture, previous drain-related bleeding, malignant obstruction, large tract diameter, or multilevel strictures.

Minimally invasive pancreatic enucleation (MIPE) is increasingly performed. Unlabelled: Pancreatoduodenectomy represents the only curative alternative in patients with periampullary tumors, currently with acceptable morbidity and mortality rates. However, there is little evidence in octogenarian patients.
Aim: To describe the experience of octogenarian patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy for tumors of the periampullary area at the Hospital Clínico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
