Taking into account their 16S rRNA gene sequences, it appears that and the three species of the genus described so far belong to the same phylogenetic clade with high levels (>95 %) of similarity. In this respect, these three species should be reclassified within the genus , which has priority over the genus , which was validated since the genus . The DNA G+C content of is 47.1 mol%, which is of the same order as that of the three species. All these bacteria have in common iso-C as their main fatty acid. Based on further phylogenetic, genetic and chemotaxonomic studies, we propose that ( = DSM 13181 = JCM 12221), ( = DSM 13490 = ACM 5076) and ( = DSM 22491 = ATCC BAA-1850) be reclassified as comb. nov., comb. nov. and comb. nov., respectively. The four bacterial species belong to the phylum .
