Based on many years experience with the diagnosis and treatment of valvular defects in advanced age the authors present a review of the problem with emphasis on non-rheumatic degenerative damage of the cardiac valves and valvular apparatus. They draw attention to the reliability of non-invasive examination methods and prefer their routine use in cardiological geriatric practice. As regards therapeutic procedures, they draw attention to more progressive methods of treatment of valvular defects in old age such as percutaneous, transluminal balloon valvuloplasty of the aortic valve, open valvuloplasty of the mitral valve and replacement of damaged valves by prostheses, in particular biological ones. Finally the authors stress the importance of investigations of the pathology and clinical aspects of valvular diseases in old age as one of the ways of careful preparation for better health care of old people in future.

HfO-based ferroelectric (FE) thin films have gained considerable interest for memory applications due to their excellent properties. However, HfO₂-based FE films face significant reliability challenges, especially the wake-up and fatigue effects, which hinder their practical application. In this work, we fabricated 13.

Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL) is an aggressive mature T-cell lymphoma characterized by significant hepatosplenomegaly, bone marrow involvement, and minimal or no lymphadenopathy. Purpose: Considerable genetic heterogeneity is currently thought to underlie hereditary prostate cancer (HPC). Most families meeting criteria for HPC cannot be attributed to currently known pathogenic variants.
Methods: To discover pathogenic variants predisposing to prostate cancer, we conducted a familial case-control association study using both genome-wide single-allele and identity-by-descent analytic approaches.

Inborn errors of immunity (IEI) entail a diverse group of disorders resulting from hereditary or de novo mutations in single genes, leading to immune dysregulation. This study explores the clinical utility of next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques in diagnosing monogenic immune defects. Eight patients attending the immunodeficiency clinic and with unclassified antibody deficiency were included in the analysis.

Background: Exogenous Cushing's syndrome, which results from prolonged glucocorticoid treatment, is associated with metabolic abnormalities. Previously, we reported the inhibitory effect of tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cell conditioned medium (T-MSC CM) on glucocorticoid signal transduction. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic efficacy of T-MSCs in a mouse model of exogenous Cushing's syndrome.
