Heart failure (HF) patients suffer from cognitive decline and mood impairments, but the molecular signals and brain circuits underlying these effects remain elusive. The hypothalamic neuropeptide oxytocin (OT) is critically involved in regulating mood, and OTergic signalling in the central amygdala (CeA) is a key mechanism that controls emotional responses including anxiety-like behaviours. Still, whether an altered OTergic signalling contributes to mood disorders in HF remains unknown.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), induced a global pandemic with a diverse array of clinical manifestations. While the acute phase of the pandemic may be waning, the intricacies of COVID-19's impact on neurological health remain a crucial area of investigation. Early recognition of the spectrum of COVID-19 symptoms, ranging from mild fever and cough to life-threatening respiratory distress and multi-organ failure, underscored the significance of neurological complications, including anosmia, seizures, stroke, disorientation, encephalopathy, and paralysis.

: After ischemic stroke, there is no general consensus on the optimal position for the head of patients in the acute phase. This observational study aimed to measure the variations in cortical oxygenation using noninvasive functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) at different degrees of head positioning on a bed. : Consecutive ischemic stroke patients aged 18 years or older with anterior circulation ischemic stroke within 48 h of symptom onset who could safely assume different positions on a bed were included.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) poses a formidable challenge in stroke management, with limited therapeutic options, particularly in the realm of immune-targeted interventions. Clinical trials targeting immune responses post-ICH have encountered setbacks, potentially attributable to the substantial cellular heterogeneity and intricate intercellular networks within the brain. Here, we present a pioneering investigation utilizing single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptome profiling at hyperacute (1 h), acute (24 h), and subacute (7 days) intervals post-ICH, aimed at unraveling the dynamic immunological landscape and spatial distributions within the cerebral tissue.
