Importance: Nitric oxide deficiency may contribute to exercise intolerance in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Prior pilot studies have shown improvements in exercise tolerance with single-dose and short-term inorganic nitrate administration.
Objective: To assess the impact of chronic inorganic nitrate administration on exercise tolerance in a larger trial of participants with HFpEF.

Free-electron laser (FEL) facilities operating at MHz repetition rates can emit lasers with average powers reaching hundreds of watts. Partial absorption of this power induces thermal deformation of a few micrometres on the mirror surface. Such deformation degrades the characteristics of the reflected photon beam, leading to focal spot aberrations and wavefront distortions that fail to meet experimental requirements.

This study investigates the compressive behavior of aluminum honeycombs partially filled with expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam, emphasizing the effects of filler area fractions and vertex contact locations on energy absorption and crush characteristics. Axial quasi-static compression tests evaluated energy absorption, mean crush force, specific energy absorption, and crush force efficiency. Results revealed that partially filled honeycombs significantly enhance energy absorption and mean crush force compared to their unfilled counterparts.

A novel experimental technique, quasi-equilibrated temperature-programmed desorption and adsorption (QE-TPDA), was used to study the water sorption properties and hydrothermal stability of aluminum trimesate MIL-96 and aluminum isophthalate CAU-10, which have been selected due to their remarkable sorption properties. The QE-TPDA profiles of water observed for MIL-96 and CAU-10 confirmed the hydrophilic nature of these materials. Complex QE-TPDA profiles indicate that water sorption in MIL-96 follows a three-step pore filling mechanism.
