With the acuity circles (AC) policy aiming to reduce disparities in liver transplantation (LT) access, the allocation of high-quality grafts has shifted, potentially affecting the use and outcomes of split LT. Data from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) database (February 4, 2016, to February 3, 2024) were analyzed, including 1470 candidates who underwent deceased donor split LT, with 681 adult and 789 pediatric cases. The study periods were divided into pre-AC (February 4, 2016, to February 3, 2020) and post-AC (February 4, 2020, to February 3, 2024).

The Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland; Discipline of Medical Gerontology, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.
Introduction: Lutein and zeaxanthin are diet-derived carotenoids that are proposed to help mitigate frailty risk and age-related declines in musculoskeletal health via their anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the association between lutein and zeaxanthin status and indices of musculoskeletal health and incident frailty among community-dwelling adults aged ≥50 years in the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).
Methods: Cross-sectional analyses (n = 4513) of plasma lutein and zeaxanthin concentrations and grip strength, usual gait speed, timed up-and-go (TUG), probable sarcopenia (defined as grip strength <27 kg in men, <16 kg in women), and bone mass (assessed using calcaneal broadband ultrasound stiffness index) were performed at Wave 1 (2009-2011; baseline).

Previous experimental studies have reported clear differences between native speakers and second language (L2) learners as concerns their capacity to extract and exploit morphosyntactic information during online processing. We examined the online processing of nominal case morphology in Korean by native speakers and L2 learners by contrasting canonical (SOV) and scrambled (OSV) structures, across auditory (Experiment 1) and written (Experiment 2) formats. Moreover, we compared different instances of nominal case marking: accusative (NOM-ACC) and dative (NOM-DAT).

Background: We evaluated the impact of pediatric heart-allocation policy changes over time and the approval of the Berlin ventricular assist device (VAD) on waitlist (WL) outcomes for children with congenital heart disease (CHD).
Methods: The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients database was evaluated to include all children (age < 18) with CHD and cardiomyopathy (CMP) on the WL between 1999 and 2019, divided into 4 eras: Era 1 (1999-2008); Era 2 (2009-2011); Era 3 (2012-2016); and Era 4 (2016-2019). WL characteristics and survival outcomes were evaluated for patients with CHD over time and were compared to those with CMP listed currently (Era 4).
