Article Synopsis
  • - This review details rare malignant pancreatic lesions, particularly focusing on the imaging characteristics of uncommon epithelial tumors like solid pseudopapillary neoplasm and acinar cell carcinoma.
  • - It highlights how these tumors can be visualized using ultrasound, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and contrast-enhanced techniques.
  • - The overview emphasizes that pancreatic tumors are diverse, and not all are the common types like ductal adenocarcinoma or neuroendocrine tumors.

October 2024

Department of Hernia and Pediatric Surgery, The Affiliated Taizhou People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Taizhou Clinical Medical School of Nanjing Medical University, No. 366 Taihu Road, Taizhou City, 225300, Jiangsu Province, China.

Background: Formation of seroma/hematoma is one of the most common postoperative complications following laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with seroma/hematoma and construct a prediction model.

Methods: Elderly subjects undergoing laparoscopic Transabdominal preperitoneal Patch Plasty (TAPP) were included in this study.

Background: The evolution of midline ventral hernia repair has progressed from the open Rives-Stoppa technique to minimally invasive robotic approaches, notably the trans-abdominal retromuscular (TARM) and enhanced-view Totally Extraperitoneal (eTEP) methods. This study compares these two robotic techniques in repairing medium-sized midline ventral hernias.

Methods: A retrospective comparative study of electronic medical records from 2015 to 2021 was conducted on patients undergoing robotic TARM or eTEP at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island.

Purpose: Management of scrotal hernias presents as a common challenge, with operative interventions to address these hernias associated with higher rates of morbidity compared to those of less-complex pathology. Surgeons have advocated for the use of techniques such as primary abandonment of the distal sac as a potential means to reduce complications for operative intervention, with preliminary findings demonstrating feasibility. We sought to assess outcomes related to primary sac abandonment among patients undergoing minimally invasive (MIS) repair of scrotal hernias.
