Adding mesopore networks in microporous materials using the principles of hierarchical structure design is recognized as a promising route for eliminating their transport limitations and, therefore, for improving their value in technological applications. Depending on the routes of physico-chemical procedures or post-synthesis treatments used, very different geometries of the intentionally-added transport mesopores can be obtained. Understanding the structure-dynamics relationships in these complex materials with multiple porosities under different thermodynamical conditions remains a challenging task. In this review, we summarize the results obtained so far on experimental and theoretical studies of diffusion in micro-mesoporous materials. By considering four common classes of bi-porous materials, which are differing by the inter-connectivities of their sup-spaces as one of the most important parameter determining the transport rates, we discuss their generic transport properties and correlate the results delivered by the equilibrium and non-equilibrium techniques of diffusion measurements.

Coordinating the droplet capture, transport, and shedding processes during fog collection to achieve efficient fog collection is a major challenge. In this study, a copper mesh with different wettability was prepared by chemical etching and thiol modification. The Cu(OH) needle structure on the surface of the samples was characterized by FE-SEM and EDS tests, and the surface of the samples was chemically analyzed by infrared and XPS analyses.

Monolayer assembly of charged colloidal particles at liquid interfaces opens a new avenue for advancing the additive manufacturing of thin film materials and devices with tailored properties. In this study, we investigated the dynamics of electrosprayed colloidal particles at curved droplet interfaces through a combination of physics-based computational simulations and machine learning. We employed a novel mesh-constrained Brownian dynamics (BD) algorithm coupled with Ansys® electric field simulations to model the transport and assembly of charged particles on a non-spherical droplet surface.

Diblock copolyelectrolytes have significant potential in applications such as solid-state single-ion conductors, but precisely controlling their nanostructures for efficient ion transport remains a challenge. In this study, we explore the phase behavior and microphase transitions of AX BY-type diblock copolyelectrolytes under alternating electric fields using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. We systematically investigate the effects of various electric field features, including unipolar and bipolar square-waves, as well as offset and non-offset sine-waves, focusing on how field strength and period influence the self-assembling morphology of the copolyelectrolytes.

Moiré superlattices, created by stacking different van der Waals materials at twist angles, have emerged as a versatile platform for exploring intriguing phenomena such as topological properties, superconductivity, the quantum anomalous Hall effect, and the unconventional Stark effect. Additionally, the formation of moiré superlattice potential can generate spontaneous symmetry breaking, leading to an anisotropic optical response and electronic transport behavior. Herein, we propose a two-step chemical vapor deposition (CVD) strategy for synthesizing WS/SbS moiré superlattices.

Norovirus (NoV) infection is a leading cause of gastroenteritis and poses global health threats, with increasing incidence reported in immunocompromised individuals, which is further exacerbated by the globalization of the food industry. Eumelanin has demonstrated its potential in antiviral treatments, but its role in preventing viral infections remains underexplored. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the antiviral properties and potential mechanisms of self-assembled eumelanin nanoparticles (EmNPs) against Tulane virus (TuV), a surrogate with a similar infection mechanism to NoVs.
