A fluorescent sensor based on 1,2,1',2'- Tetra(methoxycarbonyl)- 3,3'- bis(p-methylbenzoyl)- 7,7'-bisindolizine (MBI) showing excellent selectivity towards Fe(3+) ions was developed. Under optimized experimental conditions, the fluorescence intensity of 1,2,1',2'- Tetramethoxycarbonyl- 3,3'- bis(p-methylbenzoyl)- 7,7'-bisindolizine was quenched linearly by Fe(3+) ions in the range of 2.00 × 10(-2) to 4.76 × 10(-3) M. The limit of detection was found to be 3.17 × 10(-3) M. The mechanism for quenching was investigated. The developed sensor was applied for the determination of Fe(3+) in pharmaceutical samples.

Organic compounds with boron-nitrogen bonds are widely used as fluorescent sensors and semiconducting materials. This paper presents a new approach for the formation of B-N bonds catalytic insertion of nitrenes into B-H bonds. The reaction proceeds most selectively for cyclic boranes with a 2-phenylpyridine framework and nitrenes generated by the oxidation of sulfonamides and sulfamates.

Photo-stimulated Polymers have garnered significant attention for their potential applications ranging from optical memory to sensing. Herein, by changing coordination metal and the position of nitrogen atom in pyridine-based photo-stimulated ligand, we successfully synthesised a novel photo-stimulated copper-based MOF (Cu-MOF) using 9,10-bis(di(pyridine-3-yl)methylene)-9,10-dihydroanthracene as the photo-stimulated ligand. Structural analysis revealed a 3D porous architecture, offering a distinct advantage over previously reported 1D coordination polymer using similar photo-stimulated ligand.

Poly(2-oxazoline) (POx), a typical thermoresponsive polymer with good biocompatibility, was conjugated with environment-sensitive tetraphenylenethene (TPE) and hydroxyphenylbenzoxazole (HBO) to achieve unique thermometer readings. Through phase transition induced by temperature, the thermometers can measure temperature in biologic range with ratiometric fluorescence response, ultrahigh sensitivity and good reversibility. Moreover, the thermometer can be used to measure the change in temperature with large fluorescence difference in living cells.

The widespread misuse of doxycycline hydrochloride (Dox) in livestock farming has necessitated the development of rapid and reliable methods for monitoring its residues in food products. Herein, a water-stable europium coordination polymer-Eu(CO)1.5(HO)ₙ (Eu-CP) with a layered structure was synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal approach.

A novel fluorescence sensor utilizing label-free nitrogen self-doped carbon dots (NCDs) was developed for the sensitive, selective, and rapid determination of dichloran fungicide, popularly used in agricultural and horticultural fields. The NCDs were prepared from maleic anhydride and diethylenetriamine via a one-step pyrolysis process. They demonstrated strong blue fluorescence emission with a quantum yield of 12 %.
