Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) two-dimensional (2D) halide perovskite (HP), with attractive structural and optoelectronic properties, has shown great potential in optoelectrical devices. However, the relatively wide bandgap () and stability, which cause inferior efficiency, prevent its feasibility from further applications. To tackle these issues, for the first time, a novel fluorine-containing piperidinium spacer, (3-HCFCFCHOCH-PPH), abbreviated as (4FH-PPH), has been designed for the stable and efficient = 1 2D HPs.

Pollutant-free pyrolysis strategy for direct upgrading of cathode materials from spent lithium-ion batteries.

J Hazard Mater

November 2024

Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China. Electronic address:

The recycling of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has been dogged by air pollutants containing fluoride (e.g. HF, PF, POF).

We have developed an unprecedented electron-donor-controlled divergent reaction between -alkylsulfonylated acrylamides and Br-R, facilitated by an electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complex, for the synthesis of fluorine-containing oxindoles and amides. Key to this divergent transformation is the EDA complex generation by altering electron donors. This approach has several advantages, such as broad substrate scope, being metal-catalyst- and photocatalyst-free, and having good functional group tolerance.

While the fact that HF etches glass is rather common chemical knowledge, the reaction of fluoride ions in an organic solvent with glassware under alkaline conditions has not yet been documented. It becomes apparent that, in general, whenever any fluorine-containing material is handled in silicon-based glassware, the possible presence of SiF should be considered regardless of the pH of the reaction medium. Subsequent to the initial, inadvertent synthesis by the reaction of CuF with laboratory glassware, hexafluorosilicate-entrapping supramolecular assemblies (nanojars) of the formula [SiF⊂{-Cu(μ-OH)(μ-pz)} ] ( ; = 28, 30, 32, 34) were rationally prepared by the reaction of Cu with pyrazole (Hpz) in the presence of a base and SiF ions or by combining with HSiF or HF.

Transparent, Flexible, Responsive Switching "Delayed" Amphiphilic Coatings Designed on the Basis of the Full-Cycle Antifouling Strategy.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Superlight Materials and Surface Technology, Ministry of Education, College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Harbin Engineering University, Harbin 150001, China.

Marine fouling on the surface of ships and equipment not only creates problems of enhanced resistance to navigation and increased energy consumption but also leads to unclear vision and inaccurate data collection. Antifouling coatings to resist fouling are effective, but it is difficult to achieve long-lasting fouling protection with a single interface state. Switching the status of the interface by intelligent response is a reasonable way to achieve full-cycle efficient antifouling.
