Calix[6]arene hexacarboxylic acid binds instantly and with low symmetry to Pb, Sr and Ba. Later a highly symmetric up-down alternating conformation emerges. The solution structures are identical to their p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene hexacarboxylic acid counterparts. With either receptor an octahedral cage is formed around the metal. The transformation from low to high symmetry however proceeds at significantly faster rates for the de-t-butylated host.

Two Stable Pillar-Layered Zn-LMOFs for Highly Fluorescence Sensing of Inorganic Pollutants and Nitro Aromatic Compounds in Water.

Inorg Chem

October 2024

State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, P. R. China.

Luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) are a potential class of functional materials for the photoluminescent detection of a wide range of analytes as well as for the detection of pollutants in wastewater. Herein, by using the pillar-layered strategy, two new luminescence Zn-LMOFs ( and ) were successfully solvothermal synthesized. The 2D layers are both consisting of Zn and TPHC [TPHC = (1,1':2',1″-terphenyl)-3,3″,4,4',4″,5'-hexacarboxylic acid] ligands and then pillared by the different N-donor ligands to form the 3D Zn-LMOFs with topology.

The water-soluble tribenzotriquinacene-based hexacarboxylic acid ammonium salt, , acts as the host component () forming host-guest complexes with tetraphenylethylene (TPE)-functionalized monotopic and tetratopic quaternary ammonium derivatives, and , to yield supra-amphiphiles. These supra-amphiphiles self-assemble to form pH-responsive fluorescent vesicles, which have allowed us to capitalize on the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect for imaging-guided drug delivery systems. These systems exhibit efficient drug loading and pH-responsive delivery capabilities.

Efficient pollutant degradation by peroxymonosulfate activated by a Co/Mn metal-organic framework.

Dalton Trans

March 2024

Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture (North China), Ministry of Agriculture, College of Biological Sciences Engineering, Beijing University of Agriculture, Beijing 102206, China.

In this work, a three-dimensional bimetallic metal-organic framework (BMOF), BUC-101 (Co/Mn-Hchhc, Hchhc = -1,2,3,4,5,6-cyclohexane-hexacarboxylic acid, BUC = Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture) was synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal method and characterized in detail by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) element mapping analysis. BUC-101 showed excellent catalytic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation performance to degrade rhodamine B (RhB) without energy input. In addition, BUC-101 can maintain good stability and recyclability during the PMS activation processes, in which 99.

Ultrafast Response in Nonenzymatic Electrochemical Glucose Sensing with Ni(II)-MOFs by Dimensional Manipulation.

Inorg Chem

October 2023

College of Materials and Chemical Engineering, Key Laboratory of Inorganic Nonmetallic Crystalline and Energy Conversion Materials, China Three Gorges University, Yichang 443002, Hubei, P. R. China.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are emerging as promising candidates for electrochemical glucose sensing owing to their ordered channels, tunable chemistry, and atom-precision metal sites. Herein, the efficient nonenzymatic electrochemical glucose sensing is achieved by taking advantage of Ni(II)-based metal-organic frameworks (Ni(II)-MOFs) and acquiring the ever-reported fastest response time. Three Ni(II)-MOFs ({[NiL(HO)]4HO} (CTGU-33), {Ni(bib)(HL)(HO)} (CTGU-34), {Ni(phen)(HL)(HO)} (CTGU-35)) have been synthesized for the first time, which use benzene-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexacarboxylic acid (HL) as an organic ligand and introduce 1,4-bis(1-imidazoly)benzene (bib) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) as spatially auxiliary ligands.
