We study the influence of the film thickness on the time-resolved phosphorescence and the luminescence quantum yield of fac-tris(2-phenylpyridyl)iridium(iii) [Ir(ppy)3]-cored dendrimers deposited on dielectric substrates. A correlation is observed between the surface quenching velocity and the quenching rate by intermolecular interactions in the bulk film, which suggests that both processes are controlled by dipole-dipole interactions between Ir(ppy)3 complexes at the core of the dendrimers. It is also found that the surface quenching velocity decreases as the refractive index of the substrate is increased. This can be explained by partial screening of dipole-dipole interactions by the dielectric environment.

A green approach towards the synthesis of both conventional and magnetic fluorescent powders for revealing latent fingerprints (FPs) is disclosed. The powders formulation is based on a biodegradable matrix and fluorescent dyes extracted from commercial felt-tip markers. Two classes of powders are described: one with a fluorescent component, and other with both fluorescent and magnetic components.

The environmental impact of chemicals used in aquaculture, particularly nitrofurantoin, has raised global concern. Nitrofurantoin, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, is commonly used in aquaculture despite safety risks. Determination of nitrofurantoin in water samples of fish ponds is necessary to ensure the safety and quality of seafood.

Indwelling medical devices, such as urinary catheters, often experience bacterial colonization, forming biofilms that resist antibiotics and the host's immune defenses through quorum sensing (QS), a chemical communication system. This study explores the development of antimicrobial coatings by immobilizing acylase, a quorum-quenching enzyme, on sandblasted polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surfaces. PDMS, commonly used in medical devices, was sandblasted to increase its surface roughness, enhancing acylase attachment.

This work investigated the CrNiMo stainless steel using laser selective melting (SLM) technology and explored the effect of the tempering temperature on the microstructure and properties. After the tempering treatment, the quenched martensite transformed from a metastable to steady state, and residual austenite was formed. The results indicated that the elongation of the transverse specimen showed an upward trend as the tempering temperature increased, while the elongation of the longitudinal specimen first increased and then decreased.
