Plant-derived diterpenoids serve as important pharmaceuticals, food additives, and fragrances, yet their low natural abundance and high structural complexity limits their broader industrial utilization. By mimicking the modularity of diterpene biosynthesis in plants, we constructed 51 functional combinations of class I and II diterpene synthases, 41 of which are "new-to-nature". Stereoselective biosynthesis of over 50 diterpene skeletons was demonstrated, including natural variants and novel enantiomeric or diastereomeric counterparts. Scalable biotechnological production for four industrially relevant targets was accomplished in engineered strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

The swede midge, Contarinia nasturtii Kieffer (Diptera:Cecidomyiidae), is a gall-forming insect pest that targets cruciferous plants. Since its introduction to North America in the early 2000s, the midge has expanded its range to include farming regions in Quebec and the Northeastern USA. In this study, we evaluated the susceptibility of 4 popular kale varieties-Green Curly-(Vates), Red Russian, Red Curly (RedBor), and Lacinato/Tuscan-to swede midge infestation in on-farm trials conducted over consecutive years.

Perrault syndrome (PS) is an extremely rare autosomal recessive condition characterized primarily by bilateral sensorineural hearing loss in both genders and primary or secondary ovarian failure in females. Neurological features such as cerebral ataxia, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy, and intellectual disability are frequent manifestations of PS. To date, six genes have been reported to cause PS, and nearly 100 families have been identified worldwide with this syndrome.

Background: Transcriptional dysregulation, possibly affected by genetic variation, contributes to disease development. Due to dissimilarities in development, function, and remodeling during disease progression, transcriptional differences between the left atrial (LA) and right atrial (RA) may provide insight into diseases such as atrial fibrillation.
Methods: Lateral differences in atrial transcription were evaluated in CATCH ME (Characterizing Atrial fibrillation by Translating its Causes into Health Modifiers in the Elderly) using a 2-stage discovery and replication design.

Background: Sustainable modular dwelling design for rural areas should focus on creating healthy and economically accessible spaces, sensitive to local needs and integrating environmental, functional, sociological and technological aspects. Flexibility is essential to reduce the initial investment and allow future transformations, optimizing the recovery and reuse of materials. These houses must be adaptable, safe and have basic services, satisfying the needs and stages of families' development.
