Lower extremity peripheral artery disease is a manifestation of systemic atherosclerotic disease, which affects over 8 million Americans and conveys a significant health burden globally. Although PAD can be asymptomatic and subclinical, it is associated with a reduction in functional capacity and quality of life when symptomatic, and, in its most severe form, is a major cause of limb amputation. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) commonly results from progressive narrowing of arteries in the lower extremities. Previous studies have shown that PAD is associated with a significantly elevated risk of cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality. This is the reason screening is crucial for diagnosis and prevention of future adverse cardiovascular events. The most common etiology is atherosclerosis, although other disease process like inflammatory, immune, and hypercoagulable disorders can cause signs and symptoms of arterial insufficiency. When recognized early and appropriately managed, complications that lead to limb loss can be minimized. All patients should have a comprehensive history taken and be examined for PAD, but patients with risk factors should be specifically examined which is currently suboptimal in our daily practice.

Objectives: Tangier disease (TD) is a rare autosomal recessive condition characterized by high-density lipoprotein (HDL) deficiency; involving symptoms of polyneuropathy, hyperplastic orange-yellow tonsils, vision disorder, and sudden cardiac death. The major clinical symptoms of TD may not all be co-present. This study evaluates patients diagnosed with TD in childhood to improve the possibility of early diagnosis of asymptomatic cases by reporting our patients' clinical characteristics in order to minimize delayed diagnosis and emphasize the importance of TD, easily detected by HDL measurement.

Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is the most severe manifestation of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and imposes a significantly high burden due to its high risk of mortality and amputation. Importance: To decrease associated infectious and thrombotic morbidity, it is important to understand the indications and risks of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) and other vascular access means in pregnancy.
Objectives: The objectives are 3-fold: (1) discuss indications and contraindications, approach to placement, and associated complications for PICC lines, arterial catheters, centrally inserted central catheters, and peripheral intravenous catheters; (2) review available data regarding complications associated with these catheters in pregnancy; and (3) propose an evidence-based approach to clinical decision making regarding vascular access in 2 clinical scenarios among pregnant patients.
Evidence Acquisition: A literature review identified relevant research, review articles, textbook chapters, databases, and societal guidelines, with a focus on obstetrical anesthesia and obstetric literature.
