The problems of hypothesis testing and interval estimation of the squared multiple correlation coefficient of a multivariate normal distribution are considered. It is shown that available one-sided tests are uniformly most powerful, and the one-sided confidence intervals are uniformly most accurate. An exact method of calculating sample size to carry out one-sided tests (null hypothesis may involve a nonzero value for the multiple correlation coefficient) to attain a specified power is given. Sample size calculation for computing confidence intervals for the squared multiple correlation coefficient with a specified expected width is also provided. Sample sizes for powers and confidence intervals are tabulated for a wide range of parameter configurations and dimensions. The results are illustrated using the empirical data from Timm (1975) that related scores from the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test to four proficiency measures.

Background: Latina women in the United States experience intimate partner violence (IPV) at high rates, but evidence suggests Latinas seek help for IPV at lower rates than other communities. Safety planning is an approach that provides those experiencing IPV with concrete actions to increase their safety and referrals to formal services. While safety planning is shown to reduce future incidences of violence, little is known about the safety planning priorities of Latinas.

Purpose: A relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD) is a characteristic clinical sign of optic neuritis (ON). Here, we systematically evaluated ultrasound pupillometry (UP) for the detection of an RAPD in patients with ON, including a comparison with infrared video pupillometry (IVP), the gold standard for objective pupillometry.
Materials And Methods: We enrolled 40 patients with acute (n = 9) or past (n = 31) ON (ON+), 31 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) without prior ON, and 50 healthy controls (HC) in a cross-sectional observational study.

Embedding techniques allow the efficient description of correlations within localized fragments of large molecular systems while accounting for their environment at a lower level of theory. We introduce FragPT2: a novel embedding framework that addresses multiple interacting active fragments. Fragments are assigned separate active spaces, constructed by localizing canonical molecular orbitals.

Objective: To analyze the occurrence of symptoms and quality of life (QoL) among patients with chronic wounds and the impact of chronic wounds on QoL.
Methods: Researchers evaluated 200 patients with chronic wounds using a general information questionnaire, a modified version of the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale, and the Chinese version of the Cardiff Wound Impact Questionnaire. They performed correlation and linear regression analyses to explore the impact of symptoms on QoL.

Background Objectives: This study was compared the Borrelia antibodies and chemokine ligand 13 (CXCL13) levels in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from cases diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS), and pseudotumour cerebri (PTC).
Methods: A total of 43 CSF samples were collected from patients diagnosed with RRMS, RIS and PTC. We prospectively investigated Borrelia IgG and IgM antibodies in the CSF samples of the cases by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western blot (WB) method, and CXCL13 levels by ELISA.
