Urethane tetrathiafulvalene derivatives: synthesis, self-assembly and electrochemical properities.

This paper reports the self-assembly of two new tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives that contain one or two urethane groups. The formation of nanoribbons was evidenced by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), which showed that the self-assembly ability of T 1 was better than that of T 2 . The results revealed that more urethane groups in a molecule did not necessarily instigate self-assembly. UV-vis and FTIR spectra were measured to explore noncovalent interactions. The driving forces for self-assembly of TTF derivatives were mainly hydrogen bond interactions and π-π stacking interactions. The electronic conductivity of the T 1 and T 2 films was tested by a four-probe method.

Electron donor tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and electron acceptor naphthalene diimide (NDI) derivatives were used to synthesize a 3D Zn-TTF/NDI-MOF. Multiple redox active sites and charge transfer endow the pristine MOF anode with excellent rate behavior and long term cycling performance (with an average specific capacity of 956 mA h g at 1 A g over 600 cycles). This study highlights the great potential of elaborately-designed MOFs for developing efficient anode materials.

Background: Pembrolizumab, an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI), shows significant survival benefits in patients with microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), but its efficacy in microsatellite-stable (MSS) mCRC is limited. In this work, we exploit the electronic features of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as a backbone in synthesizing chiral derivatives. The aim is to make use of TTF's well-known and unique redox and semiconducting properties in the fields of enantio-selective recognition and chiral charge transfer (CT) complex preparation, with the ultimate objective of obtaining devices with various potential applications, ranging from plasmonics to quantum computing. In particular, both cyclohexane-bis (TTF-amide)-based enantiomers 1-(S,S) and 1-(R,R), stable under an oxidation regime, have been selected, and under these conditions, the electrochemical enantiospecific response of the four possible systems, coming from the combination with L- and D-tartaric acid, respectively, was tested.
